Aww, these are nice! I don't visit the Sid tag often so I missed a lot of them. Congrats to him and Toews on getting their hugging-fu together.

They would've been hard-pressed to do worse than Vancouver-the bar was set so, uh, low. But they seemed determined to do better this time :)

That was a real beauty of a goal, too. I have to admit I'm relieved he did score so people could hopefully shut up about it a little. - I was also heartbroken about the way the US went down, but given that, I'm glad Sid & Canada won.

Wasn't that such an epic fucking relief? SIGH. And it was a fantastic goal-you just knew the second he snagged the puck that he was going to score. I mean, I was a little nervous just because the balance of the tournament had left me feeling like he might never score a goal again, but yeah. That one felt different.

USA was sad, for sure, but #CrosbyBeforeCountry in my house ;)

I didn't get into the hockey during the Olympics mostly because I was watching everything on compressed streams through a bad modem so it really just looked like chaos. I think it's the kind of sport you've got to see on a proper screen with no glitchy feed.

As soon as I have time to read again, I must read some fic - I get the sense that hockey RPF is growing anyway, so, you know, uhhh, for professional reasons, I should keep up with that... ;D

Even when you can see it well, it can still look a little chaotic. I've been watching for over a month and I still don't feel like I know what's going on most of the time, but the only remedy for that is more watching, I find ;)

The fandom is a little...well. There is some really amazing fic, and there is some fic where I don't understand the characterization whatsoever. And there are a LOT of AUs, which we have similar opinions about. But I'm certainly not going to dissuade you from dipping your toe in. It's definitely a big, active fandom with a lot going on, especially if you're willing to read a variety of pairings/characters.

Here are a couple of recs, for when your schedule allows:
