No Simon, with your long legs splayed and long graceful fingers in that picture, not better...don't listen to him. He's a pathological liar. That's delicious. PLEASE keep working on that one.
The pic amuses me thinking of what a snobby snot Rob was (still is sometimes) about other bands. I'm sure he wasn't going to be impressed by the likes of Blondie. Simon's knows the rules. He's not supposed to be distracted by Debbie Harry, but I bet he kind of wants to be.
I'll keep working on it. And hey, perhaps at some point I'll snip the next few lines of the fic so that you can see Robert's opinion of Steve's sexual prowess versus Simon's ;)
I don't know what Robert has said re: Blondie, but he was photographed with them multiple times, including one fairly cozy shot with Debbie. So it seems like even if he wasn't a huge fan, they at least got along relatively well in whatever social situations they found themselves in.
I like this new one you are working on! More soon please 😉
Ah, this pic...when Robert acted like a snot (totally agree with dream here). I do think Debbie probably thought Simon was hot, only because hey-he really was and still is!
I'm glad you like it! The other one will be finished first, but eventually I hope to wrap this one up, too. It just requires to much actual plot, versus straight-up porn.
...Speaking of, I'm just now looking at this pic again and noticing how Simon and Robert have positioned their respective beer bottles. There is a lot of not-so-subtle nonverbal communication happening here.
Now, I didn't expect Severin would pop up here, again, after "decades"! I'm very curious to see how this will develop with his ominous presence between our boys who love each other.
I've always loved this photo too, and found it very interesting. With Debbie Harry beside him, Simon only has eyes for Robert?!? And the same goes for Robert. For what they seem to care about her (the others are non existent) they might as well be alone in that room! Those bottles are revealing, aren't they? Simon's openly positioned and held in a totally suggestive way (but for Debbie or for Robert?), Robert's strategically half hidden behind him. But I'd like to know what was going on in Robert's pants. Simon looked absolutely gorgeous, hot and fuckable!
To give some additional context to the snippet I posted, modern-day Simon has traveled back in time to 1984. So Robert is still dealing with a certain amount of animosity and hurt feelings, which is why he's so quick to lash out at Simon with the bit about Severin when he doesn't get what he wants (i.e. a detailed report of everything that's going on with Robert and Simon in the present day, which Simon is loath to reveal out of a fear of influencing Robert's actions and impacting that present day, where Simon has Robert in his life and in his bed and doesn't want that to change). It isn't exactly a huge bombshell, so Simon is more annoyed than hurt. He'll probably be able to move past it, especially with Robert's long legs to distract him ;)
Of course Simon will move past it quickly, they love each other too much and too deeply. But, speaking of animosity and hurt feelings, I've often wondered if, or how much, Robert still harboured them once he and Simon were back together and if they were the cause of discussions between them.
Robert was being a prick. A little context for this picture:
Simon was chewing over the Cure’s publicist-engineered meeting with Debbie Harry outside their dressing-room at Hurrah’s club the night before. “I feel really... enamoured of having my picture taken with her,” he said. “She was very nice about it I thought.” Robert Smith hadn’t been very nice about it at all, I gathered. While the star smiled her smile and joked about “Hey, your credibility’s gone now” the artist turned his back to the camera and tried to screw all the photographer’s attempts to get a shot for the biz magazines like Cashbox and Billboard who run lots of snaps of people shaking hands so that the corporate readers can see everybody’s happy and everything’s right in this best of all megaprofitable worlds. Whereas Robert Smith doesn’t believe it and would rather not endorse it or supply their need for reassurance.
Oh snap, Robert. Despite his attempts to frame it as sticking it to the corporate bigwigs, I suspect maybe he didn't how enamored Simon was with it-or more specifically, with Debbie.
Still, he came around eventually. There's a pic circa 1985-ish where he's posing very nicely with her.
