the writer was talking to his stepniece yesterday about going to college. she left today and definitely had some jitters. she's not the greatest student, and she's a really skinny popular girl who really just wants to stay in her own hometown and settle down with her jackhole boyfriend

I totally know what you mean re: post-college friends, and re: reaching out. My hermit tendencies work against me and I need to learn to seize the opportunities to hang out with people when they come up. I just kind of assume the people with kids are always exhausted, and would rather spend their free time napping.
