I used to be a reader

You know, the sort of kid who always had her face buried in a book. The family joke was that whenever we'd go to the beach I'd tan everywhere but my face. Because of the reading. And I loved it! Come on, books were the coolest things ever. Adventures galore, exciting people you'd never get to meet in the dreary real world. Libraries were ( Read more... )

I am also reading far less than I once did, and am less likely to try something new. Good luck recovering the magic with the new Kindle!

Thanks! I find it's so hard to commit to something new because there is such a time investment and what if it sucks? And while I do love my old favorites, sometimes something new is what I actually want. I'm hoping that the combination of the books being a lot less expensive and careful use of rec lists (like with fanfic!) will mitigate the danger. ;D

I did the reading challenge where you try to read a certain number of books. Seeing the counter is definitely encouragement to read!

I can so relate! When things are hectic I tend to get stuck in the habit of re-reading old favourites for the millionth time, because you can easily put them down and resume again a week later with no problems. But then I realise it's been months since I've actually read a book I don't already know back to front and it's like, oh. D:

I so need to get an e-book reader of some sort! I went on a trip recently where I had limited luggage space and narrowing down to just one book was agony. How are you finding the Kindle?

I'm loving Kindle. :) I've just read one book on it so far, but the print is really easy on the eyes and incredibly adjustable as far as size, spacing, etc. And it's nicely light-weight as well, which makes it easy to hold whether in a chair or in bed or what have you. (I would definitely recommend a cover, though. It's smallness means it feels a little delicate. IMO, anyway.)

And apparently you're able to borrow books, which I've not done. But it sounds cool to me!
