I have finished Emma! And it was lovely! And so much better and involved and funnier and heart-wrenching than the movie! (I know, I know. You're shocked to hear it. *g*)

For example: Based on the movie I'd disliked Frank Churchill. He seemed like a thoughtless boy caught up in his own games and not caring how he affected those around him. But ( Read more... )

Thanks to you & your Jane Austin ramblings, I've finally settled down to reread Persuasion after meaning to do it for seveal years now. And may try Emma next, despite having failed to get past the first couple of chapters during previous attempts.

Yay! Then my work is done. :) Actually, I haven't read Persuasion. (I've realized I'm shockingly ignorant of Jane Austen's work. As of now, I've finally read three, but for the longest time Pride and Prejudice was the only one I'd read.) It looks like it was her last book, in which case I might save it for last. On the theory that she improved as she went. :)

So we're even then--I've done only P&P, S&S, and Persuasion. Haven't paid attention to the order they were written in, though, so I can't speak as to improvement in quality. But Persuasion is very good.
