CHALLENGE RULES
[Based on the rules for
hc_bingo, with credit and thanks to that community.]
1. Your bingo card is a grid full of prompts, which are drawn via randomizer from the list found
here. The prompts are intended to be interpreted as "horror" genre prompts - for more clarification on what this means, see this post. There are two types of participation in this challenge:
- Participation during the "bingo" round, during which you are trying to make a bingo on your card. For information on the various ways to make bingo on your card, please see the points and scoring post.
- You can also just request a card for inspiration's sake at any time before/after the bingo challenge, and fill the prompts as you feel compelled to do so.
2. You fill a square by creating a piece of work in which the prompt is the main theme of that work. Of course, all of the prompts are open to interpretation - however, your interpretation of the prompt should still be the focal point of the story. A background mention of the prompt in an otherwise unrelated story isn't sufficient to qualify it as a fill for a bingo square.
3. Any kind of content can be created, for a fill - fandom or original. Your content is limited only by your imagination. However, this challenge does not include/allow for RPF/RPS/Real-Person Anything, due to the fairly grisly nature of the prompts. If you're competing in the bingo round, there are minimum requirements for the length/size of your content:
Fiction: 500 words
Art: Medium sized (at least 320x240)
Icons: Set of 15
Picspam: 25 pics.
Vids: 60 seconds
Fanmix/Original Mix: 10 songs with tracklist, album art and explanations included.
Meta: 500 words.
Other: Ask mods if you're unsure.
4. Your bingo can be composed of any combination of content/fandoms. You are not required to stick to one fandom/type of content to make a bingo. For example: you have 2 fanfics from differing fandoms, one original fic, a fanvid and mix to fill one line. The "Wild Card" square can be filled with a piece of content of any variety, on a topic of your choosing - provided that said topic falls within the scope of the horror genre.
5. You need to complete at least one bingo on your card (if participating in bingo) before requesting a new one. If you need to request a new card for trigger/content reasons, please contact the mods.
6. If you have just requested a card for the prompts, you may request a new card at any time - requesting a new card for inspiration before you have completed a bingo disqualifies you from competing in the bingo round, however.
7. No matter the topic of your content, you are required to warn for any triggers within your work - most notably: rape/non-con, dub-con, incest, character death/suicide, graphic self-harm, any type of sexual trauma, any type of child/domestic abuse, and any other triggering themes or images. This is for the sake of the community, to keep everyone safe and having fun. Please err on the side of caution with your warnings.
If you don't want to warn for something because it would spoil your story, please use this code from amadi's post on warnings to make a greyed-out warning readers can choose to read or not.
(
skip) WARNING TEXT HERE.
8. Any kind of pairing is allowed in your work, provided that it is legal (that is, if it's statutory rape it needs to be labelled as statutory rape; no underage porn/erotica/etc). You do not need to warn for pairings (slash/het/OT3/etc).
9. All bingo square fills must be newly created content. You cannot use anything that has been posted previously, in-part or in full.
10. You can reuse any square on your card as many times as you want, but each use must be a new piece of a fic, art, etc. A fill cannot be used in more than one bingo or extra.
11. Feel free to post your individual fills in your journal/on AO3/on your website - anywhere! But please don't post them to the community until you've completed a bingo or extra. It isn't required, but it would be nice if you mentioned in your author's/creator's notes that you're writing a fill for horrorbingo. :)
12. To receive points for the completed bingo you must post it to the community. Your post to the community must include links to all the fills included in your bingo. All links need to go to open posts (no locked/private entries/sites). If we discover a link that goes to a locked entry, no bingo for you (until the post is opened). We have a nifty posting template for you , to make posting your bingos/extras less of a hassle.
13. Given the fact that this is a community for horror prompts, it's expected that your work may "go there" when it comes to…well, the more terrifying/horrifying/extreme things that happen in life; and many of the prompts deal with potentially sensitive topics. Please try not to be a jerk when it comes to dealing with these issues. It's hard to set guidelines on these kinds of things - especially since many works may be from the perspective of sociopathic or evil characters - but generally just do your best to be respectful and mindful about sensitive topics when you are creating your fills. We want this bingo to be a positive experience for everyone. :)
Mods reserve the right to review and/or reject content that is grossly disrespectful, crude, or otherwise offensive. This will be done on a case-by-case basis.
