He looks cute standing and it's good to see in the second picture him starting to reach down. Only thing I can say about the head straight up in the air bit (if you don't mind a comment on that, I'm not trying to be abrasive) is to take your hands out of your lap and raise them just a tad. From what I understand, having them quite that low works the bit on the wrong part of their mouth (it's a bad habit of mine).
Martha was in the ring taking pictures and Chris called her to ask how Sammy was handling his maiden voyage with us. They chatted on the phone briefly and then Martha hung up, and said to me
"Chris says 'Shorten your reins.'"
See, he knows from the next town over that I'm riding around with my hands in my lap again. ;)
I rode my mare for the first time in a month today (and the first time I've really ridden in a week, which only matters because I hadn't ridden for a year, rode for about a month or so, then kinda dwindled down as she was off)... and I have to say, everytime she started being funny w. her front end, I thought of where my hands where, and low n behold... they were in my lap.
So, um, you've had your horse for a week and a half and, um, where are the pictures??! I wanna see!
And haha on the similar training stages. I love this part though. Obviously they're nice when they're made, but this part is great too. They're so much fun when they're trying to figure it all out. :)
he looks cute and willing. you must update with more pictures when he's got a topline.
i'm so jealous of everyone getting these nice horses. nto that i can complain with the big hunter horse that i'm leasing... but he's 14 and knows everything. i miss greenies!!!
(p.s. i tend to ride with my hand in my lap too... common bad habbit... but then again... some of our judges like to see the "hadns shoved into the neck" thing... it frustrates me cause in order to pin i have to throw away my good positioning and encourage my bad habits...)

My trainers here are a husband-wife team.
