Critique my horse!

This is Blazie. He's a 7 year old, half QH, half Arab.

I'm really not conformation-smart, so I'd love to hear what you see, especially in regards to what discipline he's suited to and such. Honestly, I'll probably never do more than pleasure riding, but I'm curious to know what he might be able to do in case I get the show bug again someday.

No matter what, I think he's a cutie )

He is very cute! I love Arab/QH crosses. Pretty good conformation too-- nice sholder and hip on the boy. The main thing that pops out at me is that his back is a little long. He may be a little post-legged (hard to tell as he isn't standing square) but if he is it isn't bad at all. He looks very friendly and sweet and I'm sure he could do just about anything. I would snatch him up for dressage in an instant... but then again, that's what I do :D

Yeah, the reason I love him is because he's so friendly and sweet. He always nickers and comes to the gate when he sees me (though he won't let the barn workers catch him, the stinker).

Thanks for the critique- I found a great wiki page that described what various conformation faults mean, and coupled with your critique, it was fascinating. :)

He looks just right for what you intend to do with him.

His shoulder is a little straight, and for a non-dressage horse his neck is probably set a little high. I don't think he's post-legged, though. Overall his legs look solid and well put together. From the moving picture he looks a little short-strided for horse shows ... but there are no real faults -just little quibbles that would only make a difference if you really intended to show him.

And you are right - he is definitely cute!

Thanks! I'm a bit biased, but I find him adorable. Lots of personality, too. Thanks, also, for the evaluation. Like I said, it probably will never affect us, but it's interesting to learn about.
