ok, one of my friends brought this warmblood mare to me to be broke (yes, in October). While she was here she told us that she was looking for a good team penning horse. Well, one of my boarders/ working students has been trying to figure out a way to "upgrade" from her extremely cow oriented, long backed, no desire to jump QH to something a tad ( Read more... )

She is very powerfully built, that's for sure. I think she'll look a lot nicer once she's been in work and develops the rounder muscles everywhere, especially over her bum.

What strikes me most is that she is not very refined for a mare. She has what looks to be a gelding's face and, from some angles, a thin-ish neck. Again, I think that once she gets into a work program that most of the "ums" will go away.

yes yes. she's never done anything to this point except graze and eat a roundbale :)
i can see a reduction in her "gut" already :)

She seems to me to have typical warmblood confomation, and I don't see anything particularly bad about her. Possibly she's slightly sickle-hocked, and maybe a bit pigeon-toed, but that could just be the pics as well. Lots of warmbloods are pigeon-toed anyway, because they have such broad chests. I agree with the previous commenter - she will look much more refined and a lot more typey once she's been in regular work.

Something about her stifle keeps maying me look at it over and over lol. Not quite sure where to place that issue. She has a great shoulder angle and her rump looks ok (needs muscle though). Her feet seem a bit small to be carrying a horse that size XD Her neck, seems a tad short in comparison with her top line and underline, but overall, she's cute!
