I've spent around $95 on four books. I still have 2 more gigantic science textbooks of doom to purchase, however I don't know what OWL or OLC cards are, or if I really need them to be 'valid'. And wait. My chemistry textbook doesn't really exist. Nor does one of my other books. So I guess I have to buy them from UBS or Bryan's, along with the lab ( Read more... )

i completely agree that - financially - textbooks are terrible, terrible things. i (well, technically, my parents) just spent $260 on 14 books, and i still have 2 more packets and a soon-to-be-released book to buy. even though it's all at least $100 cheaper than buying them at school, it still makes my head spin.

do you buy your books used online? i find that that's the best way to go.

(oh, and regarding optional books, i bought all the optional books that accompanied my classes freshman year, thinking i'd read them in my spare time. yeah....i never touched a single one. but, since yours is a science class, maybe it differs? you could ask those who've already taken orgo -- which, by the way, [shudders] i wish you luck in. i've heard horror stories about orgo....)

Yeah, that's why I'm finding they don't exist - at least on Amazon and half.com :( I tried just plain google searching and found them, but they're even more expensive than at the bookstore!

yeah, that's my issue, there's like help guides and more OWL cards and crap, and I don't really know what's going on. I figure I could check them out online and then wait and if it looks like they'd be useful (after seeing them in person at the bookstore) I could just order them later.

heh, thanks. I'll probably need it.

There are far too many good reasons to move in earlier rather than later. It's no fun at all and probably very stressful to move in and then go to class right away. You have to get settled and enjoy some free time before you have part of your life stolen away by classes.

I am having a similar problem at my house. "Oh, what difference does a couple days make? Just hang out at home longer, it's fun!"

No. No no no.

so...

mexican fiesta is indeed wonderful. we stopped there today on our way home. i'd have to say that my favorite part is the hot chips at the beginning. yuuummmm. but i normally split with danielle, who was absent, so now i've got enough for lunch tomorrow as well.

and i listened to Cartel, and my favorite is Runaway, and that was a good recomendation, so i'll have to investigate Forgive Durden as well. but for some reason all the Cartel songs are louder than the rest of my music, so if i'm listening with headphones it tends to make me jump when one of their songs comes on. keeps me on my toes :-P

aaaaaaaand, that's all i can remeber that i wanted to say. so just to make this wonderfully-long comment even longer, i hope you're having a wonderful birthday! and remembering to pack cause we are so out of here soon!
:-D
