I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through this Dave. I have been feeling similar, with the family members of 3 close friends receiving terminal cancer diagnoses in the last 3 weeks, and a dear mentor of mine unexpectedly dying from a very aggressive breast cancer- I didn't find out in time to say goodbye. It all seems so unfair and brutal, and I feel surrounded by it. I can only imagine how you are feeling, with your own losses. Hugs and best wishes, Sarah
Thank you, Sarah. Wow, that's a lot of cancer so close to you. It really doesn't seem fair. At least my friend's dad was 91, which seems like a good age to reach. Hugs to you, too. I hope you can sort out your feelings about all that.
I'm concerned about the aunt, as she had back surgery lately and had been pretty dependent on her husband. She could hardly get around at the funeral today.
The funeral today went ok, especially the VFW/military part (John was a 20-yr USAF veteran). But the minister seemed more focused on getting people to accept Jesus so they "can all be together in Heaven." He did make a few comments about what a good guy John was, so not a total waste. It just didn't seem very comforting to me. I doubt if I'll ever buy into all that hereafter stuff.
