Sorry, I had planned to post this last Friday, and even had it almost ready, but I had the pleasure of the last-minute rush to finish covering material before finals. Mind you, because all my finals are next week, expect the next chapter this Friday.
The Snake and the Moon
By Ryo Hoshi
2.
The next time they met was by very carefully arranged coincidence. Medusa had found excuses to start frequenting the part of town the object of her interest lived in, and quietly learned more about the pair-and learned that, in fact, she rather enjoyed English pastries.
Spirit was the first to notice her; she recognized the brief consideration of the veteran flirt of her as he balanced her gender against her appearance, and even though he knew she wasn't too young… It didn't hurt, it really didn't…
His meister's green eyes, a bit darker than they'd been the first time they'd met-perhaps it'd been the light?-registered faint surprise when he, too, noticed and recognized the nice candy-striper from the ER.
With a practiced, not as forced as usual friendly smile, she said, "Hello, Mr. Stein. Are you feeling better? You'd looked horrible…"
His answer was…actually pleasantly technical, and vastly informative. Medusa couldn't help feeling that he noticed she really did understand it completely, too, despite her efforts to look overwhelmed. Unexpectedly, though, it didn't seem like he was put off by that.
Spirit didn't, but it quickly became clear to the witch that the scythe was quite definitely not interested sexually in his meister, despite the rumors. In fact, he was more than willing to help her try to get the younger boy's interest.
Medusa got the feeling that Stein's taste in dates was, perhaps, less than optimal.
The conversation ended with a victory: a group outing, a double date in all but name, and Stein having agreed to go with them.
C&C and questions quite welcomed, and I'm off to be confused as to why Medusa, is the one whose PoV I find easiest to write from. You can find
one of the related stories here, and I'm still trying to get Another Night's first chapter satisfactorily done...
Not that reading either will be needed to understand what's going on here...
