And if you plan ahead you can probably avoid being worked over by Best Buy on the replacement. It's not economically feasable to build a laptop up. It's better to get one together, and you've the opportunity to get one for free. It might be worth not getting the plan on the replacement if you think you'd rather repair it yourself, but just hold them to specific features like insisting that you NEED a built in graphics card at least equal to your old one and a widescreen display, etc and you can probably reject any replacements they may suggest which you don't like.

...there's a nice Sony widescreen model listed in their "Buy Christmas Gifts From Us" catalogue which, incidentally, looks to be about the same price I paid for my current beloved Sony Vaio...
And I'd probably insist on that model. I don't feel inclined to be nice, since they seem to have sent it back without testing it in addition to failing to register that it shipped. (To those who don't know: I spent around a week having to piss away time trying to get them to find a laptop that, due to their habit of returning it with missing feet, had gained a distinctive appearance and -- and this is the truely fucked-up part -- had gained this trip a lable on the cover with my name on it.)
