Name: Hoshikawa Kazuki [Kazu]
Age: 17
Birthday: August 3rd [Leo]
Grade Average: B
History: Kazuki has been raised in an upper-class family all of his life, but when he was four, his older brother, beloved by their mother, was hit by a car, walking Kazuki to preschool. He was D.O.A. at the hospital, and though tragic, the fact doesn’t particularly affect Kazu. As a child, he was spoiled by his father, and his mother quickly became rather insane after Itsuki died. She was prone to try beating Kazuki, but a male house cleaner was hired to prevent that from happening. Despite all this, Kazu’s attitude was that of “If something tries to bother you, just let it roll right off your back, else you’ll be weighed down and unable to progress in life”.
In junior high, Kazuki was quite normal-- he got good grades in most of his classes, had a lot of friends, and was generally well-rounded. However, in his first week of high school, he met his friend Taichi, and his style began to change, his demeanor toughening up slightly, and he became a bit of a rebel from the school system; the catch? He couldn’t fight very well, so he usually resorted to other methods-- a hockey stick, a bat, and even in one case, he almost killed a boy that pulled a gun on him by hitting him with his pearly white Honda Civic. It really only upset him that there was blood on the hood of his car, which he quickly wiped off using the struck student’s coat sleeve, ripped from his jacket.
Kazu also likes to work in his father’s café down the street, when he’s bored and/or wants a bit of extra cash; basically, when his bank account runs below $300, he’ll pop in and do a few days’ work, then disappear again. Oddly enough, business is always like a rollercoaster-- lots of business when he’s working, and then back to the norm when he’s gone.
Appearance: Kazuki has brown eyes, but he usually wears light blue contacts-- a bare hint green if you look closely. He has longish dirty blond hair, bleached often, and a very questionable fashion sense when spotted outside of school. He stands about 5’6” and weighs a mere 122lbs, easily one of the smallest in his year. To appear taller, he’s developed a very straight posture and usually wears shoes with a slight lift to them-- it bugs him immeasurably to be shorter than most of the other guys in his class, but it also soothes that irate feeling to know that he’s prettier-- and damn, does he know it.
Inside of school, he ‘personalizes’ his uniform with a few choice accessories, as well as his messenger bag, covered in patches and buttons from various bands he likes, but outside of school, he could only be classified as “different”, or possibly even borderline Rocker.
Personality: He’s pretty gay. Gay gay gay gay GAY gay gay. His mother is too loony to notice, and his father just sort of... overlooks it. But it’s pretty hard to escape. He flirts shamelessly with pretty boys, and he’s had one boyfriend in the past-- but quickly dumped him because that boyfriend had some pretty weird fetishes that unsettled the blond. However, setting aside the flirting, he’s pretty laid-back and cool-tempered. He’s very patient with friends, quick to protect them, and reads manga when he thinks no one’s looking. He’s mostly a fan of Yuu Watase’s work and the series Nodame Cantabile-- he even tried to learn violin because of it, but was soon fed up with the instrument and tossed it.
He’s warm-hearted, a bit brash at times, and is generally gentle in nature. He rather dislikes confrontation, and is lazy when at home-- but he’ll jump up and instantly be full of energy when the mention of shopping arises. Alas, he's prone to chronic migraines, which pop up every few days and render him dull and bitchy.
Strengths: Laid-back. Loyal. Strategist. Empathic. Confident. Athletic [vaguely]. Calming.
Weaknesses: Dog lover. Easily fooled. Susceptible to crying at movies. Pretty boys. Classical music. Full of self. Mildly OCD. Migraines.
Overnight Bag: Rollerblades. iPod. Mirror. Wad of cash. Two bottles of imported Fuze. Laptop. Cell phone with camera. Swiss Army knife. Car keys. Two changes of clothes. Chap stick. Small tin of jewelry. Two packs of gum. Last volume of Nodame Cantabile. Latest volume of Weekly Jump. Box of truffles. Nintendo DS. Bottle of prescribed pain killers. Handcuffs.
Family:
Father: Hoshikawa Soushi - A businessman; owner of a [very] small chain of cafés in the surrounding area. Loving towards his daughter, but rather neglecting of his only son. Bothered by the fact that Kazu is gay, but tends to ignore it.
Mother: Hoshikawa Nanami - Was a loving mother, but after her elder son’s death, her sanity has deteriorated. She’s sometimes seen cradling a stuffed cow around the house, calling it “Itsuki” and singing to it. Often calls Kazuki by his brother’s name when she’s having one of her “moments”, but usually tries to hit him when she’s more lucid. She likes bright-colored kimonos.
Older Brother: Hoshikawa Itsuki - Deceased. Was sixteen when he died, but up until then, was a respectable grade-A student. Loved his little brother and sister, but especially spoiled his brother. Itsuki loved hockey, and is probably the main reason that Kazuki plays the sport at all.
Older Sister: Hoshikawa Reiko - Your average bully of an older sister. When Kazu was younger, she’d dress him up in her clothes and put make-up on him. She always encouraged him to be gay, really, because she’d always wanted a sister around her age-- seeing as she’s only two years older than Kazu, she made do with him. She’s also an amateur model.
Pets: Smokey - A peppy little pup that Kazuki found in a free box on the street. He was the last one in the box, and looked lonely, so Kazu brought him home. He loves to play fetch, but usually won’t give up the ball. Sleeps in a tight ball at Kazu’s feet constantly, but when Kazu wakes up in the morning, the puppy is usually splayed over his legs. He sports a handsome mahogany collar with silver tags-- but is afraid of getting shots. A daddy’s boy to the fullest that never leaves his master’s side.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
Hockey: One of Kazu’s favorite sports, which he seemed to have picked up from his brother. His brother was the ace on his high school team, and though not on a team, Kazuki deserves to boast about his skills.
Waiter: A hit and miss part-time worker at the closest café that his father owns; Kazu enjoys working with the customers and serving their tables.
Rollerblading: Easily Kazu’s favorite pastime. He loves the wind in his hair, the sun on his face, the rush of jumping off a small flight of stairs-- the works. He’s quite the aggressive skater, grinding on anything and everything at the even the slightest ankle. He often takes Smokey on walks while on his rollerblades, giving the dog a good run as he does what he loves. If he could, he would live, breathe, and speak rollerblading. But unfortunately, though tried on many situations, he just can’t seem to stay in his rollerblades 24/7. Confiscated countless times at school, and he once even had to import new ABEC bearings from America because he tried to wear his blades in a public bath house; for what reason, that will always remain a mystery.
Stained Glass: Working with stained glass was something their old neighbor used to do, and taught Kazu on a few occasions. He now has a small work center in the garage of their house where he works on different pieces in his spare time. Countless works of his hang around the house, in the windows and on the walls. He specializes mainly in lead stained glass pieces, but can also do mosaics and small foil projects with ease. He also loves to sandblast glass and mirror, but as he has a lack of a sandblaster, he can only fulfill that hole when the neighbor’s out of the hospital and at home.
Classroom Behavior: Only raises his hand when no one else seems to know the answer, but is actually quite intelligent. He has a window seat in all but one of his classes, which he frequently stares out of, usually scribbling some odd shape on a piece of paper before him while thinking of where he wants to skate next.
Classroom Clique: None of them and all at the same time. Pretty popular with the boys and girls alike. Member of the Yunahoma gang.
Friends and Enemies: [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]
Boys:
Taichi Nawabe: His best friend since he began high school. Kazu loves to play hockey together with Taichi, and secretly has quite the affection for the boy. Kazu thinks nothing of his memory loss except for it being a bit cute, and hopes that they’ll be friends forever, if not something more. Fellow Yunahoma gang member.
Hideaki Yuasa: Not exactly friends, but neither dislikes the other. They get along well enough, but are only really connected by Taichi and the gang. Despite that, though, there's still the understanding of "you got my back, and I got yours" between them. Fellow Yunahoma gang member.
Seikou Ishida: Seikou is a fairly good friend of Kazuki, even if he is a bit spacey and plain. Kazu loves to tease him and flirt with him casually, which makes Seikou go bright red and freeze up-- which utterly adorable. Kazu is highly protective of Seikou, because he doesn't think Seikou would stand up for himself. The two sit together in the classes they have together often. Kazu is glad that Seikou doesn't seem to mind his being gay, but mostly attributes it to the boy's laid-back personality. Often drags Seikou along with him, Ryuji, and Taichi when they skip class.
Ryuji Miyosaka: These two are quite good friends, with very different interests. Kazu once flipped through a book of Ryuji's and had the urge to throw it out the window. He has enough history classes anyways. Enjoys helping Ryuji prank people, and is often skipping class with him to go downtown. Kazu tries to take Ryuji shopping with him, but Ryuji will run away when Kazu isn't looking and bury himself in the history section of the bookstore near Kazu's favorite store. Loves to mess with Ryuji by flirting with him.
Kentarou Fukushima: Kazu and Ken are pretty good acquaintances, if not borderline-good friends. They're quite similar in nature-- they're both laid-back, nice, avoid confrontation as much as possible, et cetera. Kazuki respects the way that Ken speaks his mind, when so many people have trouble doing that. Ken's rather anti-social, but Kazu attempts to drag him along as much as possible, whether it's to the mall, out walking his dog, to the movies-- whatever. Kazuki is proud to say that Ken is one of his good friends, and likes to think that he could confide in the other boy about everything-- whether this feeling is reciprocated, Kazu doesn't know. Kazu also shamelessly flirts with Ken on the off-chance of getting a reaction from him.
Ichi Kiyoshi: Kazu doesn't know Ichi all that well, but he still considers him a good friend. He realizes what a loner Ichi is and tries to pull him out of his shell, and show him that being sociable isn't a horrible fate sentenced to one of the seven layers of hell. XD He met the boy through Taichi, who's pokenerds with Ichi when no one's looking. Ichi practically worships Kazu and the ground he walks on, but Kazu isn't exactly privy to that tidbit of information. He flirts shamelessly, because he has the inexplicable power to make Ichi blush, and can tell Ichi has a bit of a crush on him. The feelings seem off and on, so he never really acts on them. Kazu can sometimes be seen dragging the introverted boy around the mall, and buying him video games at leisure.
Girls:
Taylor Takahashi: A good friend that Kazuki gets along with splendidly. Though rather prim and proper, Kazu respects what's important to her and might possibly attempt to try studying with her... but usually to no avail. He loves to try and hook her up with a boyfriend, but so far, she's refused them all. Kazu and Taylor love to go shopping and partying together, and make a great time out of it. Kazu is often caught between the disputes of Taylor and Kaoru; trying to be the middle man. Enemy of Kaoru.
Kaoru Ishibashi: Despite her being a total bitch, she and Kazuki get along quite well. Known commonly as The Fag & The Hag when they're out together, these two often go shopping and partying, looking fabulous, and have a great time doing so. They're quite known for their 'Fabulous Kiss', when one of them calls it out, and they both kiss each other on the cheek. Kazuki is probably at his worst when up to no good with Kaoru, prone to pranking and name-calling and other such things; but never to his own friends. Kazu always gets caught between the fights of Kaoru and Taylor, attempting to be the middle man. Enemy of Taylor.
Sayuri Ono: The two of them grew up together as neighbors, and are really great friends. They couldn't be any more different, personality-wise, but he greatly respects her inner author, and thinks she's a great writer. He's prone to stealing her notebooks and reading her stories, giving lots of feedback on inserted post-it notes and such. He loves her greatly, and is glad that she can open up to him with her feelings. That aside, he thinks she could be totally cute if she could apply the right makeup and made an effort, but she doesn't seem to care. Joins Taichi when the boy starts to bug Sayuri about her stories.
Lily Ogawa: These two are pretty good friends, in the fact that they're quite similar with past experiences. They had a few classes together, and Kazu met her through Taylor, with whom Lily is really good friends with. Lily had forgotten to bring in an official document to the headmaster one day, and dropped her papers. Kazu was passing by and helped her pick them up, noticed the official document, and asked her about it. She was a bit more lucid and felt she could tell them, so they had a long talk about both of their pasts later that day. It was like they could sense a kindred spirit or something similar. Have been good friends ever since.
Mami Hanasaki: Initially met Mami through Taichi, the two of which, he's convinced, are practically dating. He can tell they're both hesitant to take it anywhere, so he often threatens her with "If YOU don't hurry up and go out with him, I WILL!!!" They were never really 'friends', so much as plain acquaintances, but one day, when Kazuki was out rollerblading, he saw her walking a bunch of dogs and was instantly like "BE MY BFF PLZ". They often walk dogs together now, Kazu bringing along his own pup for the ride.
Kinuka Asano: Acquaintances for the most part, Kazu and Kinuka met through Kaoru, the one time she introduced the Bitch Clique to him, and Kinuka was the only one that really struck him as a decent person. They skip classes and go shopping together now and then, but for the most part, don't see each other much.
Tomoyo Gentoku: Though Tomoyo and Kaoru are enemies, Kazu is still pretty good friends with Tomoyo. The two have a lot of fun together, and go out all the time. Kazu doesn't have many friends that actually enjoy shopping, so this is a number one priority on all their 'dates'. The two do just about everything together, whether it's mall-hopping, putting makeup on Ryuji, or getting ice cream~! It's never a dull moment when these two are together.
Memorable Moments:
- Kazu managed to get some makeup on Ryuji, when out with both he and Tomoyo once upon a time
- One fateful day, Kazu bought Ichi a butt plug as a joke. Ichi looked mortified and blushed a wonderfully deep shade of pink, but soon realized it was a joke and proceeded to cover the butt plug in chocolate sauce and tried to attack Kazu with it
