INDEPENDIENTE WOWS IN THE COPA LIBERTADORES OPENING MATCH

Jan 26, 2011 12:12

Could I be anymore excited? FOX showed last night's match on TV and they will be continuing to show the Copa Lib matches. I am in 7th heaven! Not only because the games are being televised, but because the colour commentator is none other than my favourite sports announcer, Roger Valdivieso! Nobody can do it like Roger! I just love the guy ( Read more... )

He indicated that because of the injury to River's goalkeeper JP Carrizo, that they might go after Independiente's #3 goalkeeper, Gabbarini.
Really? I mean, it makes sense, as soon as I saw that Juan Pablo was injured I thought they'd need someone, but JJ Lopez and Carrizo have been saying that they trust Vega and Chichizola, so this is surprising! And isn't Gabba gk #2? I don't know if I'd like to let him go, honestly. At the same time, they did give us Hilario on a loan when Orion was injured...
Thanks for reminding me of the heat, I'm dyingggg over here :P haha

I don't know...all I know is what Roger said last night. Maybe if he reads this post he will be able to clarify things. XDDD

He mentioned that Fabian Assmann was the #2 'keeper. And Assmann was on the bench last night. He also said that this way Gabbarini would get some much-needed playing time.

I know River has other GKs so I don't know how true this rumour is. Personally, my favourite was always Ojeda, but I know his health problems could be quite serious and interfere with his career. And they do have Vega who has done well in the past, and Chichizola, whom I saw in Toronto a year and a half ago for an exhibition game. He did really well that night...we were impressed!

OMG there you are dying in the heat and we have too much snow and cold!!!! LOL.

They definitely have too many gks, but I'd rather have Gabba than Assman! I don't know! haha. I mean, we had Acevedo (a SL goalkeeper) on the bench the other day but that's just because it was a summer friendly...
You made me remember Ojeda and I googled, apparently he's playing for a club in Venezuela (?). I'd understand completely if they get Gabba... They can't afford to lose points.

Oh gosh, Ojeda is in Venezuela? Well, I am glad at least that he is playing. :)

Yeah, Independiente has some great goalies, so I don't know...LOL @ Assmann! His spell in Spain didn't do him any good I guess!

YEAH! for Independiente!

I hope we will find some interviews at YouTube!

Tuzzio was THE BEST!!! He deserved to be MAN OF THE MATCH!

You are a lucky one to be able to watch the copa matches on TV!

The interviews were great! Of course they were in Spanish but Roger translated for them on the spot! Defederico's speech was the best...I should have put it in my notes! He said this was his first game with Independiente and he had not had much practice time with them. He didn't think he played that great personally, but was glad he had scored. He thinks he will be able to play better when the next match day comes because by then he'll be more used to his teammates.

And here I thought he did well! But I know he is capable of playing really spectacular, and it will be very exciting to watch him with this team, because honestly, I think Independiente is very, very good!

I feel very lucky! :)

I think they are a very good team and played UNLUCKY! Not all the time! They won the copa sud and there they played very well.

Let's hope for Deferico. What I have seen he IS a very good player! The passes will be much better if he is used to his teammates!

I'm pissed about having NO football on TV! The streamers are always cutting all the interviews.... I could only see a bit TUZZIO!

Tuzzio is always the most serious one, they even gave him that "award" on our celebration after the Sudamericana. And Battión is always optimistic, he creeps me out, good player or not.

oh, and Mareque's kid is named Leon ;)
