Hot Gimmick S does indeed have Shinogu with her, but is a novel and not a manga.
On the one hand, I agree. On the other hand, a lot of other factors made it one of my favourites (and this is coming from a semi-feminist as well). I disliked Ryoki, yes, but loved seeing scenes with her and Shinogu. The ending was, for me, pretty dissatisfying because of that.
Hot Gimmick S is a steaming pile of shit. Don't waste your time, seriously. It's not even written by Miki Aihara and comes off like bad fanfiction...which it basically is. It's horrible. I sold my copy to Hastings two years ago and it's still sitting on the shelf.
Sighhh, Hatsumi makes me facepalm. Admittedly I kinda liked Ryoki, but I would have LOVED him with a stronger woman that put up more of a fight against his issues. Would've been far more interesting to see.
..This is why I ship Azusa/Shinogu. No problems with that one.
(Pt 1) Mango's 2-cents Review on Hot Gimmick & HG S NovelmangooAugust 9 2009, 05:14:58 UTC
ok, I'm new here...I just finished reading the entire HG manga series & also that of the HG S novel yesterday. Although the manga series wasn't that great (I would not spend money on this particular shojo crap) it sure was a page-turner and it was rather addicting. The concept is fresh, the whole be-my-slave-or I'll blackmail u- thing you just see really in shojo manga..except with some similar aspects to Hana Yori Dango.
I was ok with the main pairing Ryoki X Hatsumi at the end of the HG manga and I justify this by a scene earlier in the manga when Ryoki's maid, Mariko asked Hatsumi to never leave Ryoki because he's emotionally stunted, alone, never known having a family feels like. I think Hatsumi really considered that request(and took it to <3) and how Hatsumi says she can't fight her feelings for Ryoki and some other instances. I agree Ryoki is a major douche to Hatsumi throughout the manga

....Continued: Getting back to the manga-side, as far as Shinogu becoming a monk, wasn't there like half a scene apge dedicated to Shinogu saying to the priest that he "had one more letter to write to someone he was concerned about"<<< BIG F%^%**ing plot-bunny, but hey guessed what HG's mangaka and HG S's novelist completely IGNORED IT!!. Just with this scene itself, I got my $$ on ASAHI YAGI whom he was gonna write that letter to. Well, thats what I would have done as HG's mangaka. I would have put a rumbling thought of the name (Asahi) after Shinogu's thought bubble-thing after that phrase. But with Asahi's name, popping up it will get readers to imagine all the possibilities that just maybe Asahi might be able to stop Shinogu going into a monk business someway somehow, romantic or platonic-relations, I mean c'mon how much you like bet Shinogu Narita is a virgin and will stay a "virgin-4-life" because he became a priest. That would suck! , he's a guy after all (yes, the manga stated quite clearly with the Shinogu-character

Asashi was a terribly cliche and kind of ugly-drawn character. I'd rather have Shinogu end up with someone more hatsumi-like if not hatsumi herself, not a side-character that no one really noticed.
And anyone who says that relationships like the one in HG are normal is delusional. A large percentage of relationships are NOT abusive, controlling and manipulative and it definitely shouldn't be highlighted at all as a "good/normal thing" through a popular series.

simply because you dont like her probably..people tend to not remember names because they just don't give a damn...and thats simply fine because you are entitled to your opinions...but others will think differently..if you dont even have the guts to post a response as a valid Livejournal user
