1. Pictures!

Here's me looking alarmed!

2. Nerdy hobbies:

--Reading--
I'm big into reading. I personally prefer non-fiction, historical fiction, history, true-crime, archaeology, and anything relating to gender/sexuality studies, but I'll occasionally delve into the fiction realm.

My favorite authors include:
Kurt Vonnegut
Monica Wood
Elie Wiesel
Michel Foucault
Ayn Rand
Ray Bradbury
Dalton Trumbo
Vincent Bugliosi

And though it certainly isn't complete (it would take me ages to get all my books online), here is a sampling of my book collection: http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=Sallyyyy

--Videogames--

I play a plethora of videogames on different platforms-- my favorite being PC. I love MMORPGs, especially World of Warcraft... but I have played Lineage 2, Guild Wars, City of Heroes, Final Fantasy XI, and Nexxus. I don't like first person shooters nearly as much, but I'll occasionally play various half-life mods (particularly "The Specialist" matrix mod). I'm also a big nintendo fan, owning an N64, Gamecube & will soon own a Wii :). My favorite games are as listed:

For N64:
Pokemon Snap
Goldeneye
Perfectdark
Rush 2049
Supersmash Bros.
Mario party 2

For Gamecube:
Supersmash
Any of the mario parties (but especially four)
Soul Calibur 2
X-Men Legends

And, my favorite videogame of ALL TIME is "Museum Madness". You get ten million nerd points if you have played it! It's this great game involving a museum getting completely mixed up, and you have to go through the museum to re-organize the exhibits. Exhibits include Lousiana Purchase, US Presidents, Salem Witch Trials, etc, etc.

--Collecting--

I have a bunch of various collections I've picked up somewhere along the line and run with. Most note-worthy is my collection of books-- I hope to eventually have an entire library to house them in :). I'm also a die-hard fan of vinyl records, so I have a modest (and growing) collection of vinyl ranging from Regina Spektor to Billy Joel to Michael Jackson to Bach. I also have three record players. Other reasonably significant collections include computer parts (from computers taken apart by myself), old cameras, fortunes from fortune cookies, vacation ticket stubs (from museums, public transportation, etc), and vintage clothing/jewelry.

--Computers--

If you haven't caught on yet, I play a lot of computer games... but that's not my only involvement with computers. I used to build websites in HTML and Java (never really played around with Flash). I've got a couple college professor copies of Dreamweaver that I love to play around with. I built my own PC with parts I picked out myself, and building computers with my at-the-time boyfriend became a huge hobby.

--Campaigning and Activism--

In the 2004 presidential elections, I lead the NH (and, actually, much of new england's) campaigning for Carol Moseley Braun. I raised an enormous amount of money with my best friend/campaigning partner, eventually traveling with Carol to attend debates and to give interviews in the spin-room on her behalf (these aired on NPR, CNN, Fox, etc). I was featured on the Daily Show, and recieved awards as well as personal recommendations from Carol Moseley Braun and Patricia Ireland (former president of the National Organization for Women) for college attendance. I was also on the cover of the NY Times.

3. Education:
I switched highschools five times in order to find a school I felt would provide an education mirroring the one I wished to recieve, finally settling on one in Manchester, from which I graduated a semester early with damn close to a 4.0GPA. I took the "new" SAT format, and recieved a 2230/2400.

I attend college at Plymouth State University in northern New Hampshire. I was accepted at several ivy league schools, including Dartmouth here in NH, but was unable to attend due to costs. I'm a history major and a philosophy minor with major influences in both gender studies/feminism and archaeology.

Extra-curricular activities included an enormous amount of lighting & sound for theatrical performances, eventually heading lighting production. I also participated in student senate, yearbook, chamber singers, chess club, and the math club.

4. Hours spent on the internet daily and how you spend time on the 'net:
I'm pretty much always online when I'm able to be (I guess I'd estimate 8-10 hours). I work at a coffee shop as a barista, so I'm not able to use a computer there, but other than that and during class, I'll be on my computer somewhere around campus. I spend most of my time online reading and doing personal research (yeah, for fun!). Favorite websites include:

http://www.politicalcrossfire.com/
http://www.librarything.com/
http://plato.stanford.edu/

5. Passions
I am very passionate about museums! I love, love, love them! Whenever I go somewhere new, whether it be a big city, or a small town in Maine, I look out and research the museums. My favorite museums include: The Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine, the American Museum of Natural History, The National Holocaust Museum (DC). Additionally, I've been offered an internship at with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. for a semester in the 2007-2008 school year!

As previously mentioned, I'm also very passionate about books. There's nothing better than going to a bookstore and finding an absolutely amazing book without even looking for it. I also love "old stuff"-- I guess that's where the archaelogist in me shines through. I'm constantly shuffling through attics, finding old political memorabilia, newspapers, clothing, etc. Best finds include New York Times issues about the moon landings, manson murders, Kennedy assassination, etc, dresses that fit perfectly from the 1940s and 50s, a pristine record player, and a complete collection of National Geographic ranging from 1960-1970.
