After completing some research and reading some stories I have made a summary of the background for a tattoo I desire:
Pisces is an ancient constellation derived from the story of the terrible Greek god Typhon. Typhon was born from Gaia and Tartarus. This was Gaia's youngest offspring, but by far the deadliest and the largest monster ever conceived.
Typhon was a gigantic winged monster that was part man, part beast. When he took flight, his wings blotted out the sun. His legs/thighs were the massive coils of serpents, and his head touched the stars. With dirty matted hair and a beard, pointed ears, flames gushed from his mouth and fire flashed in his eyes.
For a brief period, Typhon stole control of the heavens from Zeus. Typhon was so frightful even the gods of Mount Olympus refused to fight. To escape Typhon, the gods changed their form into various animals and fled their mountain home. (The god Pan became the half goat-half fish of Capricorn. Zeus a ram, Dionysus a goat, etc.)
Aphrodite and her beloved son Eros transformed themselves into fish, bound themselves together with a cord and escaped into the Euphrates River. This eternal union of love and desire was immortalized in the constellation Pisces.
**Although my Jiminy Cricket will come before this (as it is a huge project and will cost lots of monies…) I want to start designing it so I can find out what kind of cost it may actually have.**
As far as placement, so you can get an idea, I want it to be a sleeve & shoulder piece. Basically having Aphrodite & Eros taking up the sleeve portion and having Typhon drape over my shoulder above them with his legs maybe coming down under my arm/over my ribs. I can point all this out in person if you are confused yet.
I need help from artists to draw my Typhon and my fish, (not so much detail that it can’t be converted to a tattoo, but I do have some specifics in mind…)
Please help me, or refer me to someone who can help me with the initial concept art, or final drafts, so I can take it to a tattoo shop and find out what costs I am looking at and how many hours/sittings, blah, blah, blah…
I couldn’t find many artists renditions of Typhon but I’ll give you what I found. I did find one concept I thoroughly love of the Pisces. I was wondering how I could represent Aphrodite and Eros in the fish without being cartoony, and I love this idea of the fish a more solid foreground with Aphrodite & Eros shadowed as sort of spirits behind them with no real distinguishing colors. Notice how their feet meet the fish tail and are bound together in the shape of the actual Pisces constellation. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!
