Author's note: Sorry this chapter's so choppy.

David
It was about midnight when David finally walked through the door of the apartment. With any luck, Pierre would be asleep. But of course he wouldn't be. He'd be up worrying about David. When he opened the door, Pierre jumped off the couch, expressing a mix of anger and relief. "Where the hell have you been?! It doesn't take NINE HOURS to go get pizza with friends!" Pierre said desperately, on the verge of tears. It broke David's heart knowing how much he'd scared Pierre, but the situation was really out of his control.
"I'm sorry I scared you Pie... but I'm fine. And I'm home now." David said. It took everything he had not to cry, but he couldn't let Pierre know what had really happened... especially after how excited Pierre got seeing David make friends. He couldn't take that away from him.
"No! David you're not okay! I fucking know you, and there's no way in hell you wouldn't be in a good mood and bouncing off the walls after the day you just had! What happened?!" Pierre asked desperately. His eyes were full of unshed tears. David knew he just wanted to help, but it was all too humiliating... he really didn't want Pierre to know... "Pierre, please... just let it go... I'm fine..." David pleaded, looking at the ground to avoid eye contact, which would surely have him in tears. He finally looked up at Pierre, who had tears pouring down his cheeks.
"David..." He started. He placed a hand on the side of David's face and stroked his cheek gently with his thumb. "Baby, please talk to me... tell me what happened... I don't care what it is, you can talk to me. I love you more than anything in the world and it fucking tears me apart like you'll never know when you shut me out like this." Pierre said. David hated hearing him feel so helpless. He couldn't do that to him. He knew he had to say something.
David walked over to lean on the wall, falling to the ground, and Pierre went and sat beside him, taking his boyfriend's left hand in both of his. "You can tell me anything David..." He said comfortingly. David felt a tear roll down his cheek and he didn't dare look at Pierre as he started his story.
"We went for pizza... they were nice, treated me like one of their own friends... it was just a few of the guys from the lunch table, Chuck wasn't there... when we left the pizza place, they said the had something to show me... led me off the path in those woods at the edge of town, then stopped somewhere in the middle..." David paused, unsure if he really wanted Pierre to hear this...
"What the fuck did the do to you?" Pierre asked in a low, whispery, shocked voice that was hardly more than a breath, but still had traces of anger. By this point, David had silent tears drenching his face, but he knew he had to be strong. "They um... they stopped walking, and turned to face me. Then out of nowhere this girl comes and stands with them. They told me... that I was cool... and that they wanted to be my friend... so they had to... to s... to... to s-straighten m-me out..." David continued. "I had no idea what they meant, but I got scared and tried to run but before I even knew what was happening, two of the guys grabbed me and pinned me to the ground. There were two guys holding down my arms, and another two on my legs, and the girl... she... I don't know her name, but I recognize her from school.  And she p-pulled d-d-down... my... m-my... p-p-pants... and..." David's voice broke off into sobs.

Pierre
Devastation filled Pierre. He didn't know if he'd get the words out but he knew David wasn't saying anything more, and he had to be sure. His voice came out weak and scared. "David... please... please tell me they didn't make... make her... r-rape you..." Pierre said, closing his eyes and praying to god that it was anything but that. David broke off into stronger sobs and Pierre knew he'd gotten his answer. He frantically wrapped his arms around David and held him tighter than ever before, sobbing with him. He didn't know what to do... but he knew he wasn't going to let them get away with it.

An hour and a half passed before the strong tears had passed and David pulled his head out of Pierre's chest to look at him and say something. "Go to bed Pie... I'll be there in a bit, I just need some time alone." He said weakly through puffy red eyes. Pierre wanted to protest but he didn't get a chance as David had already pulled himself off the ground and into the bathroom. Pierre figured David would be embarrassed about everything, so he decided to respect his wishes, and he went to the bedroom, changed, got some pyjamas ready for David, went to the kitchen to make a mug of tea, and brought it in to set on David's nightstand for when he came out. Then he sat. He sat on the edge of the bed and stared at the wall. He didn't move. Didn't speak. Barely even breathed. He just sat there listening to the soft ticking of the alarm clock. He looked at the time and realized David had been in the bathroom for at least a half hour. He didn't know why, but something didn't feel right, and he got up to stand outside the bathroom door and knocked gently. No response. He knocked a little harder. "David... baby, are you okay?" He asked through the door. No response. He panicked. His heart raced. He tried the doorknob but it was locked. He became more frantic and started throwing his body against the door until it flew open. He looked instantly to the floor where he saw his boyfriend, about to raise a large glass of water to his lips, and he didn't know how he knew, but he knew instantly what was happening.
"DAVID!" Pierre yelled, sliding across the floor on his knees and knocking the glass of water out of David's hands. He grabbed the back of David's neck, put his head down, and shook violently until David spit out every last little white pill. Pierre kneeled down in front of him, put a hand on each shoulder, and looked into his eyes. "DAVID WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" He asked desperately. David was shaking, and his face was covered in black from the tears smudging his eyeliner. He wasn't looking at Pierre. He was looking off into space with a blank, empty look on his face. Something had snapped inside of David, and Pierre knew this was his only chance to bring it back. He didn't know what to do, but he figured he'd start by getting his boyfriend out of the bathroom, so he picked him up in the bridal position, and carried him in to lay him down on the bed. David didn't even flinch. Just sat there, empty and broken.

Pierre set him down so his body was leaning against the headboard and sat down in front of him. It felt like he was sitting down to repair an old broken toy. But he would try everything he could. He would not abandon David. "David... baby listen to me..." No response. Staring into space. If it weren't for the breaths leaving David's nose and drifting over Pierre's face, he would have sworn David was dead. And on the inside, maybe he was. But it was Pierre's job to bring him back. And he would.
Pierre tried talking to David, saying anything he could, no response. He tried shaking him, yelling at him, even slapped him once. Nothing. He was defeated. He didn't know what else to do, when he got an idea.

David
David hated seeing Pierre like this. At least he felt like he should. But he didn't. He didn't feel anything. He could feel that all of his emotions were hidden just beneath the surface, but he couldn't turn them on. He knew there was something that could bring him back, but he didn't know what it was. He didn't care. He had no reason, no purpose. He. Cared. About. Nothing. As he felt his body being pulled into Pierre's lap, he wanted to wrap his arms around Pierre and let him know the David he loved was still somewhere in this body. But he couldn't. He tried so hard. Something just didn't seem right about moving. Or smiling. Or even breathing. He just let himself be dragged onto Pierre's lap and cuddled in his arms... and he felt nothing. Then Pierre started to sing...
"Oh... why you look so sad...
Tears are in your eyes...
Come on and come to me now...
Don't be ashamed to cry...
Let me see you through...
Cause I've seen the dark side too...
When the night falls on you... and you don't know what to do...
Nothing you confess, could make me love you less..."
And David felt himself slowly waking up. But it wasn't until the next line that it really hit him.
"I'll stand by you..." Pierre sang, and David felt as if he'd been hit with a bolt of lightning and everything he'd just seen or done had come rushing back at him like waking up from a bad dream. He instantly burst out in loud sobs. How could he even CONSIDER leaving Pierre in such a way, OR AT ALL?! He hated himself... but he threw his arms around Pierre's neck anyways and sobbed into it.
"Pierre! I'm so sorry, I don't know what I was thinking you have to underst-" He started to rant frantically. Pierre cut him off. He pulled his boyfriend off of him and stared him in the eye.
"David, it's okay... we're gonna get through this together." Pierre told him lovingly. All David could do was let Pierre hold him through the night.

Pierre
Needless to say, they didn't go to school the next day. The alarm clock went off at 6 and Pierre actually fell out of bed in his haste to turn it off before it woke up David. He decided to get up and let David sleep in. Everything he did that day would be about David. He needed Pierre now more than ever, and Pierre was terrified of him going back to that dark place.
So he got up, and made sure everything was perfect for when David woke up. He cleaned every square inch of the apartment, knowing how much of a clean freak David was, he made tea, knowing David loved it and it calmed him. (Even though Pierre himself found it disgusting and tasteless.) He got a blanket ready on the couch and set up all of David's favourite movies so they could spend the day cuddling and watching them. Then finally, he cut up all of the fruit David had invaded his fridge with and put it in a bowl, placing it in the fridge, for David to have for breakfast when he woke up. Then he went back to the bedroom, wrapped his arms around David and just sat there with him for hours, until he finally opened his eyes.

David
David slowly opened his eyes to the morning. He smiled up at Pierre and his heart warmed, as he was ready to start his day as usual... then he thought back to the night before and all of that came crashing down. He remembered everything. Today wasn't like every other day. Today was different. David could feel the frown in every part of his body. It did, of course, get slightly better when Pierre placed two fingers on his chin and tilted his head up to look at his eyes.
"Hey... no. No frowning. Not today. Smile. It looks good on you. And come with me..." Pierre said smiling, and David couldn't help but smile with him as he led him out to the living room, holding his hand, and wrapped him up in a blanket on the couch. Before he knew it, and before Pierre even said a word, he was walking out of the room. David didn't ask any questions, just placed his trust in his boyfriend.
David was smiling from cheek to cheek by the time Pierre came in with a bowl of fruit salad and a mug of tea. He couldn't believe everything Pierre was doing for him. It wasn't necessary at all and yet, Pierre was just so perfect...
Maybe things were going to be okay after all..
Pierre and David cuddled and watched movies all day... all of David's favourite's. He couldn't believe Pierre remembered all this simple stuff about him. It made him feel... well, loved. And it was a great feeling.
It was about 4 o'clock when a knock came on the apartment door. David was no longer in the blanket. He and Pierre both had on PJ pants... only, and were lying together on the couch, side by side, facing each other, talking and kissing. It took everything in him to let Pierre go answer the door. But he did, and got up with him to walk to the door. They smiled at each other before opening it, silently agreeing that whoever, or whatever was on the other side, they had each other so it would be okay. Pierre wrapped an arm around David's waist, who leaned his head on Pierre's bare chest and cuddled into him, and they opened the door.

Chuck
Chuck was happy. Just genuinely happy to be here. He and Pierre had been friends for so long, and he'd always had a feeling he wasn't exactly into girls... but now that he was out, and so happy with David, Chuck couldn't be happier. And David was a great kid, he liked hanging out with him. He was glad he was able to help David make friends. He was just happy seeing his old friend, and new friend happy. The door swung open and Chuck gave a wide smile to Pierre and David who were shirtless and cuddling. The entire image made his heart melt, seeing his friends so happy and able to be themselves. The wide smile on Pierre's face was quickly replaced with anger and Chuck could tell it was towards him... but why?
"You have three seconds to get out of my doorway before I pound you into oblivion. Pierre said, anger practically blazing out of him. He was fuming. Angrier than Chuck had ever seen him.
"D-dude... wh-wh-what did I do?" Chuck asked, worry staining his eyes. He couldn't imagine why Pierre could be mad at him, and he didn't want him to be...
Pierre was about to speak when David got on his tiptoes and whispered something in his ear. Slight consideration and/or understanding washed across Pierre's face. He was still stern and angry, but had calmed down when he looked Chuck in the eye.
"Did you know?" He asked sternly. Chuck's brain spun through the last week at hyperspeed, and he couldn't remember anything that Pierre might be talking about. And Chuck didn't know why... but he was scared.
"Man, I-I r-really don't know, what you're-" That was as far as Chuck got before Pierre was yelling at him.
"DID YOU KNOW YOUR FUCKING DOUCHE BAG FRIENDS WERE GOING TO RAPE MY BOYFRIEND." Pierre screamed on the top of his lungs. Chuck just stared at Pierre for awhile. It took a few seconds for the words to sink in and he realized what Pierre had said... and then it all made sense. Why his previously homophobic buddies were suddenly so accepting of David... of Pierre... inviting him for pizza... insisting Chuck stay home to catch up on homework... Julie-ann wanting to tag along... he knew exactly what had happened.
When Chuck looked at David, his heart shattered into a million pieces. He was just looking away at the ground, eyes heavy with tears. He couldn't believe he'd let this happen to this innocent boy.
Suddenly, he felt his own eyes filling with tears as he thought of the pain and embarrassment both David and Pierre must be going through.
"Pierre... man... I-I swear... I didn't know..." He said, pleading with his eyes for Pierre to believe him. His heart was breaking. He felt completely responsible.

Pierre
Pierre's better judgement was screaming at him not to believe Chuck. That he knew everything and this was all an act. But he looked at his friend's sad eyes, and something inside him just knew Chuck didn't do it. So he swallowed his pride and apologised
"Okay man.. sorry... I just thought... I dunno man, just... come in." Pierre said, moving from the doorway so Chuck could come hang out with him and David.
David, Chuck, and Pierre talked briefly about what happened. It was decided that Pierre and Chuck would confront the guys about what happened, but nothing more was said on the matter as Pierre could practically feel David tensing beside him, and he ended the conversation. Besides that, they mostly just talked and hungout, they ate, but mostly just hungout. Pierre put a shirt on, but David left his off. Not that Pierre minded. It was about 10 pm but they didn't have to worry about time, they had the rest of the week off school because their school was hosting some kind of convention for teachers.
"Hey man, do you wanna crash on the couch? It's kinda late to be walking home." Pierre asked Chuck, knowing he'd except. Chuck had been staying on Pierre's couch since before he moved out of his parents' house. The only thing that had changed that in recent months had been David, which Chuck now knew about.
"Yeah, thanks." Chuck said. Pierre couldn't help but feel happy that some things would never change.
David cleared his throat before speaking up. "Um... I'm actually really tired though, so I'm gonna go to bed. See you guys tomorrow." He said sweetly, and Chuck and Pierre muttered goodnight's as he staggered off to the bedroom. Pierre could tell Chuck wanted to say something else, but felt grateful he left it alone.

Chuck started talking not even a minute after the bedroom door was closed.
"So man... you and David... it's really cool. I'm happy for you." He said. Pierre chuckled lightly.
"Thanks man... it's been hard, but I've been a lot happier since I met him." Pierre said genuinely.
"So... when did you figure out you were gay? Was it David?" Chuck asked. It wasn't like he was looking for information, or making fun of Pierre... he was just a curious friend. And Pierre really appreciated it. No one had ever really made an effort to talk to him about it without calling him some kind of name.
"No... I've known since ninth grade. David was just the first reason I've had for... well anything really, but mostly for telling people." Pierre explained to his friend, and to his surprise, it wasn't awkward or embarrassing... it just felt good to finally be himself.
"Dude, I'm really glad you told me." Chuck said smiling. And the rest of their night when on as normal until one am when Pierre gave Chuck a pillow and blanket for the couch, and cuddled in with David.

It was 7 am when a loud knock was heard on the door...
