How the hell do I go about getting student loans?! I did all that FAFSA crap, now what do I do? I need help! Any suggestions are much appreciated! <3<3<3
You filled out the FAFSA? Did they send you an official manilla colored paper with all of your possible loans/grants listed? It takes a while for them to send it btw.
Yes, it's all filled out. Thanks, I didn't know they sent an envelope... any estimate on how long that takes? I'm moving in the middle of June so I was hoping to take care of some of that stuff before I left. :(
To get federal loans, call your school make sure they recorded your FAFSA then ask them when they will have your financial aid package done. Most schools will have the package available online for you to see before you get it in the mail. But your best bet is to call the Financial Aid Office.
Like everyone else said avoid private loans from outside lenders (you have to look for those) also avoid parent plus loans-- your parents co-sign and have to make payments while your in school. The best loan is a subsidized loan- you start paying 9 months after graduation, and you don't pay interest until then. 2nd best is unsubsidized, you start paying 6 months after graduation, but you are supposed to pay interest while in school- if you don't it just accrues.
