Welcome to the Hotel of Secrets
1. How is death handled here?
Normal deaths are temporary. They will last from two to three days. Which means that the character you chose to die will not be able to be active or 48-72 hours. Suicides are semi-permanent. They will last no less than a week and last as long as you choose. Which means that if your character commits suicide, they can not be active for at least a week.
2. Who are the ghosts? Who plays them?
Currently there's only the head ghost: Master. This one is played by the mods. I decided it's easier to only have one, so there won't be any others in the future.
3. What's the weather like outside of the building?
There are four directions, each separated as one fourth of a circle and expanding for miles. These four sections each have different climates. The Mountainous area is humid, while the beach area is dry heat. There is snow and fog covering another area, providing weather that would require heavy clothing, and lastly there's the forest that is as breezy and comfortable as a beautiful spring day.
4. Why is the building triangular when the inside looks like a normal building?
Because the ghosts want to confuse you! It's an illusion. The building is structured as any normal, rectangular shaped building would be, but from the outside, they look structured triangularly.
5. How many characters can we play from one fandom?
If playing a minor character from a fandom, you are allowed three. However, if you already play two major characters in the series, you may not pick up a third major character. The third character must be minor.
6. What are the journals and electronics like?
Journals have the same basic setup as the journals the muns are using, however, there are personal screening options. Just be sure to mark the text you want screened, the difficulty of hacking (This is automated, so it's fine for computer illiterate characters to screen unhackable entries, and read unhackable entries to them, but they MAY NOT hack into screened comments not addressed to them unless they have the proper knowledge to do so.). Their electronics are basic laptops able to access the internet. However, do not abuse this and break the fourth wall or whatever. This means no posting pictures from fandoms outside your own! However, Character quizes and memes are allowed IC as LONG as you run it past the mod first. If you do not want to run it past the mod, please post it on the secrets_fandom community.
7. Can I apply for a canon character and switch their gender?
Yes, but this would be considered AU, even if the only difference is gender.
8. For characters without a background pre-dating canon or with a vague history, can we make stuff up?
Yes, within reason, and as long as it won't change things happening in canon.
9. Are plus/paid accounts allowed?
Of course, but neither is a requirement. Who knows, in the future, the mod might hold RP themed contests to win 2 months of paid account time. But please, don't hound her for it! Funds are limited. However, when the time comes you are welcome to be generous! But we'll have to see how the community grows first! It's not a promise, either. The less drama, the more chances it will happen, though!
10. Can I help you as a Co-MOD? What does a Co-MOD do?
Mods will help maintain core posts. They will be allowed to make general announcements and activity check announcements.
11. Can I apply for an OC? Are there any exceptions?
OCs are not accepted. No exceptions.
12. What sort of items/stores are available?
Anything you can think of, really. There's two stores in the main building and various stores and restaurants in the other building where the hospital is located.
13. Can my character destroy the building?
This must be cleared with the head mod. Keep in mind that destroying a part of the building will trigger a regenerative alloy that will basically rebuild everything in the area destroyed over a twenty-four hour period. This will also make the ghosts angry and will likely result in a very harsh curse for the entire building. As well as a singled out curse made especially for the person or people involved.
14. I have issues with a Mod/Player. Who do I talk to?
It's suggested you talk it over with the person you have issues with. CONFRONT THEM DIRECTLY. If things aren't worked out within a few days, then you contact one of the mods (or a mod you aren't having issues with) and discuss your problems. We'll see what we can do, but we can't promise anything.
15. Can I apply for two versions of the same character?
No, you may only apply for one version. That also means you cannot apply for TRC!Sakura when you already play CCS!Sakura, and you can't apply for an OU and an AU of the same character.
16. Can I apply for a younger version of my character?
Yes.
17. My character has multiple personalities in canon, can I play both or do I have to choose one?
If you want to play both, you must write TWO separate applications. This goes the same for if you want your character to develop a second personality during their stay. You MUST apply for the second personality, or you will not be able to play it. If you try, it will result in a warning, if you don't listen to the warning, you will be banned for breaking the rules. However, you MAY choose to play them as separate personalities... Such as playing Agito and Akito separately. However, if you choose to play like this, you yourself may not apply for both of them. The only was you can play both of them is if you play them in one body.
18. What are the empty rooms in the building for?
Right now, I'm not entirely sure.
19. Can my character kill another character?
That's between you and the other mun. You must talk about this, and it must be a mutual agreement on both sides. No godmodding!
20. Would you approve of letting people app two AUs of characters that interact in canon? (Example: Playing Light and L, both AU) Yes, As long as the player is active, and as long as they come from separate AUs. This is also applicable if you would like to play the OU and the AU of two separate characters. However, you may not play the OU and the AU of the same character.
21. Would you approve of me bringing in a baby my character had in another RP, even though she's basically an OC/NPC from another RP? Only if the child is under 1 year old, you are dedicated to playing out the development, and that he/she develops at real life speed.
22. Will you make regular NPCs like Nurses/Waitors/Cashiers in the second building so we can interact with them in threads? Yes, just contact one of the "red" mods if you need them to play one for you.
23. Will you make the GHOST to become an NPC that taunts/interacts with your characters? Yes.
24. What will the character limit be? Five, with mod-approved additions based on a person's activity and ability to keep up with current characters.
25. Breaking the forth wall - It's hard not to make references to shows/characters/games, how about making a solution and just distorting the name of the shows or whatever? (Let's say Matt wants to make a reference to the Final Fantasy world, but we have Rufus already. His reference would have to be something like "The Sheene Raw Company" instead of "The ShinRa Company) Player's discretion | Permission This is going to be sorted out in the new future ♥
