So the other night, some joker tried to rob me. I was walking home from some friends' house a little late and all of the sudden this guy was like "Oh no you aren't!" with his hand on my chest and wanting me to give him all of my things in Spanish. man, Jesse, these strategies are classic! i've been a big fan of the me no comprende approach for years, but the man of the people is an interesting variation on my muggee's bag o' tricks. hmm, I wonder what you do if it turns out the mugger is a rich guy who's taking your wallet because he's bored.

I like your strategy. It reminds me of a story my dad always tells me about when he was working for Austin Parks & Rec in the 70s. One of his coworkers, a Mexican guy, would pretend not to speak English whenever my dad, Bill, told him something he didn't want to hear. The rest of the time he understood just fine. But whenever he didn't want to hear something, it was always "me no speaky English, Billy."
