“But you can’t,” Romana finished, jamming her hat down hard on her head. “Of course you can’t. I understand, even if he doesn’t. I’m the clever one, you know,” she said with significance.

“I know,” Rose said with equal gravity.

Romana smiled then, fleeting and sunny. “Ah-hah,” she said. “I think you’re probably the clever one, too.”

Brilliant - and, as always, Romana is correct :)

You know, for a while in fandom there was some terrible Rose v Romana bitching among fans (not as bad as the Rose v Martha crap), but I really think that Romana would have liked Rose. She might not have approved of everything about Ten and Rose's relationship, but I think they'd have got along pretty well :) Nice work!
