“For some reason, I thought this would be weird.”
Yuto looks down at Ryosuke, eyebrow raised, thumbs tucked into the pockets of his pants. The older boy is leaning against him, cheek pressed into his shoulder, balancing on one foot, his brown hair contrasting with the gray of Yuto’s outfit.
He looks really cute, especially with that small smile across his face.
“What makes you say that?” Yuto asks in between camera shots, blinking his eyes heavily, trying to dispel the black dots dancing across his vision.
Ryosuke shrugs, and Yuto’s reminded of the past, of Ryosuke’s quiet nature when it was just the two of them, alone and hiding in each other’s bedrooms. Yuto’s smile drops for a second as his thoughts wander, the bright flash of the camera bringing him back down. The camera man looks down at the photo through the digital screen, nods, and then shouts that they’re done with their shoot.
The two leave, Yuto following Ryosuke out of the room, and before he can walk away, Yuto grabs the other boy by the wrist and turns him around. “What did you mean earlier?” Yuto questions, “What did you think would be weird?”
“I thought everything would be weird,” Ryosuke says, “but nothing was. It was just like old times, before things got messy.”
“Oh,” is all Yuto can think to say.
“I mean, it’s been awhile since we’ve done a photo shoot together, since before we,” Ryosuke trails off, head tilting to the side. Yuto nods, and his fingers slide from Ryosuke’s wrist to grab his hand.
“I’m really glad we’re friends, Ryo-chan,” Yuto says quietly, using an old nickname he hasn’t spoken since the last time he kissed Ryosuke.
Ryosuke smiles brightly, and he squeezes Yuto’s hand, “Me too, Yuto, me too.”
