Summary: He's like a sheep among two wolves. More like two unicorns, and while it's so weird, he can't help but come to like it. ♥
When Takeru received a text that morning from Haruma to meet him and Yuuyan at the mall, he couldn’t help but cringe a little. Over the course of their friendship, Takeru had heard many stories about Yuuyan, all of which made him admire the hard working idol and, well, fear him a little too. Which was kind of ridiculous, Takeru knew, but he wasn’t a very eccentric guy. He liked to think, have quiet dinners and read poetry on Sunday mornings. He still found it amazing that he and Haruma got on so well, with their insane clash of personalities, but they truly had an amazing friendship, and if it worked for Haruma and himself, it could work for Yuuyan and him, right?
Takeru took a deep breath and entered the busy mall, his eyes immediately catching Haruma’s familiar smile and adorable little mole. His eyes caught onto more things though, like Yuuyan’s curled hair and enthusiastic smile, his arms wrapped tight around Haruma’s waist as they rode around in the little airplane meant for toddlers, laughing hysterically.
Takeru closed his eyes and sighed, his palm meeting his forehead in a painful smack. This was going to be one hell of a day, he could already tell.
Gathering every ounce of courage he had, Takeru walked over to the giggling maniacs and stood in front of their airplane, watching as the ride bounced up and down.
“TAKERU!” Haruma shouted and jumped off the small airplane and leaped into Takeru’s arms. Thankfully, Takeru was used to this unusual display of affection and caught the taller boy easily, “Hey Haruma,” he greeted warmly, giving the other a squeeze.
Haruma sighed into his neck, almost cuddling into Takeru’s embrace when he suddenly squealed and jumped back, “Yuuyan!” Haruma shouted as he turned around to glare at the snickering idol, “Don’t tickle my butt when I’m cuddling Takeru!”
“Sorry,” Yuuyan apologized, although he didn’t look sorry at all, in Takeru’s opinion. Pushing past Haruma, Yuuyan nodded his head and said, “Hello, Sato-kun, it’s nice to finally meet you.”
Before Takeru could reply, Haruma slipped his arm around Yuuyan’s waist and grinned, “No formalities! Call him Takeru, 'kay?”
Takeru rolled his eyes at Haruma, but didn’t protest, “So,” he turned the conversation around, “Haruma told me we were shopping for something in particular today.”
Yuuyan nodded, his bright smile stopping Takeru’s breath, “Yeah, I need something really, really important before my next concert tour.”
“It’s true,” Haruma added with a serious face, the corners of his lips twitching upwards, “It’s like saving the Earth important, Takeru.”
“Hey!” Yuuyan slipped away from Haruma and whacked the other on the arm, his nose crinkling as he laughed, “Don’t make fun of me Haru-chan!”
Haruma leaned over and kissed Yuuyan on the cheek, before grabbing Yuuyan’s hand, “Well, let’s go then!” he exclaimed dramatically, dragging the still laughing Yuuyan with him. Takeru merely raised an eyebrow and followed them, ignoring the strange looks people were throwing at them.
If Takeru wasn’t a part of the group, he’d probably be starring too. It was a strange sight to behold, the two gorgeous boys loosely holding hands as they practically skipped along, chatting animatedly with the occasional burst of hysterical laughter. It was definitely strange, but almost endearing in a way, like watching a small child with his favorite toy. It was also quite fascinating, to see this other side of Haruma he knew existed, but didn’t experience too often, due to the other’s consideration of Takeru’s quiet nature. He kind of wished the other wasn’t so considerate though, because Haruma was really quite…something, when he laughed freely and spoke far too loud, acting more like a three year old than the almost twenty year old he was. Maybe Yuuyan should hang out with them more often.
“We’re here!” Haruma shouted over his shoulder, “Hurry up Takeru!”
Takeru nodded and jogged over, standing behind Haruma as he looked up at the store sign, curiosity spreading across his features, “Why are we at a toy store?”
Yuuyan glanced at Takeru and blushed, “Well, I lent my teddy bear to Ryutaro, cause he and Chii had a fight and he was sad, so he took my teddy bear home but then he left it on the floor by accident and his dog tore it apart.”
Haruma used his free hand to give Yuuyan's shoulder a comforting squeeze, “Yeah, and Yuuyan can’t sleep without a fluffy friend on tour, so we’re here to help him pick out a new one.”
Takeru couldn’t help but grin at their pitiful, childish expressions, “Okay, let’s go inside then.”
The three entered the brightly lit, painfully adorable and possibly cavity inducing store. Takeru absent mindedly rubbed his jaw and followed the other two, who, unsurprisingly, knew exactly where the teddy bear section was. Once there, Haruma and Yuuayn began to carefully examine each teddy bear, checking out its color, outfit, eyes, basically everything, down to the stitch work holding the bear together. Nothing satisfied Yuuyan though, the bear was either too light or too dark, had creepy eyes, was dressed too stupid or wasn’t cuddly enough.
Takeru shifted his weight and tilted his head to the side, breaking contact from the insane duo. He was about to close his eyes and maybe take a nap when something beige caught his eye, with adorable black button eyes and tiny green overalls. Walking over to the bear, he picked it up and held it close, smiling at its softness.
“What do you have there Takeru?” Haruma asked and Takeru turned around, grinning widely as he showed them the bear.
“Cute!” Yuuyan whispered, and Takeru handed him the bear, watching in joy as the other buried his face into the bear’s tiny neck, squealing quietly as he wiggled about.
“Oh look, there’s more of them!” Haruma said, breaking Takeru from his trance, “We should get one too, Takeru,” he grinned, grabbing two bears and handing Takeru one, “It’ll be like a sign of our new friendship!”
Takeru nodded, cuddling his bear happily until something hugged him from behind, causing him to jump in surprise. He exhaled slowly though when he realized it was Yuuyan, his chin resting on Takeru’s shoulder.
“Thanks Takeru, this bear is perfect,” Yuuyan said with a dazzling smile, leaving Takeru momentarily speechless.
In front of him, Haruma giggled and poked his cheek, bringing him back to Earth, “No problem,” Takeru blushed, “Yuuyan.”
