Neela is dreaming. Or she is drunk.
It's snowing outside and the room is glowing, and she thinks that maybe it's some combination of the two.
Not that it matters, really. She feels good. Better than she has in a long while and that's enough to keep her happy.
She is curled into the couch, watching Abby watch tv. There is some American comedy on, but she ignores the flat humour. Instead she concentrates on the curve of Abby's nose. On the rise and fall of her chest.
Under the blanket she pushes her toes against Abby's leg. Abby turns and smiles at her, bottom lip caught between her teeth.
Neela smiles back and wonders what it would taste like if she pressed her mouth against Abby's. If it would be warm like cigarettes and beer. Or cool like the snowflakes fluttering against the window.
