I don't drink. And it's not because of God. It's because I don't drink. It's nice that you are making this pledge for your 21st birthday, but does it extend to the rest of your life? Just because you don't get wasted on your birthday doesn't make you "different" at all really, especially if you are going to turn around and drink the next night or buy alcohol for yourself that night, but not drink it until later.
Also, none of my roommates drink (Leela only wants to be 21 so she can cook with real wine, not that cooking wine), Matt doesn't drink, and three people that I work with don't drink. And this at a "party" school. It's more common than you would like to think.
My point was that more often than not, even the most ardent non-drinker still gives in on the 21st birthday because it's 'okay' because they are legal. They figure they only turn 21 once and that this is the 'best' time to get slammed. So that's what I'm saying would make me different. And haven't you read enough of my entries to know I'm not gonna just turn around and buy alcohol and drink it?

Do what you will. However, I, Matthew Krieger, in response to your so called "responsible decision" and "pledge to keep your dignity", hereby pledge to get utterly shit faced on October 2, 2007. So take that.

Actually it does. Do you even know what denomination I am? If you are at all familar with the different values stressed by the different denominations of Christianity you would know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) do not take anything which alters their state of mind. Baptists also do not believe in the consumption of alcohol, so please tell me if I am Baptist (which I am), how does drinking not have merit on me being a good Christian? Furthermore, Christianity stresses being an example to the secular and since the secular says to drink, get drunk and that it's ok, I am being an example. As Christians we are called to be evangelizers and this is how I am reaching out to others by setting an example. I don't need to drink to have fun. I'm not like everyone else. I am a Christian and proud of it. Call me what you will, call me the worst thing you can think of; it will be for naught because I WILL die for my beliefs and if a gun to my head telling me to renounce my faith in Jesus Christ won't make

Man, this is why I really don't like Baptists. Really. Really really. What sort of person believes that anyone who drinks A) automatically imbibes too much, or B) engages in immoral acts whilst drunk, C) bears false witness upon the Lord, and D) sets a bad example for others

You need to grow up. I find these posts highly entertaining because they further prove to me just how extremely crazy and narrow-minded you are, but this one really shines through all that and just makes me shake my head in shame. I really have nothing else to say. Come down from your golden pedistal and stop using Jesus as a facade to make yourself seem happy. We all know you're in shambles. Who writes things like this?
I don't need to grow up. Ronnie maybe you should accept the fact I answer to a higher power. Maybe you should look into it. You've already said how you cannot comprehend how a God can create the things in nature. God is beyond comprehension of any human being as to the hows or whys of what He has created. I'm glad that I could be a source of entertainment for you. The fact you think you know me and what my life is like entertains me as well.
I DO understand that,ronathanSeptember 2 2005, 21:04:28 UTC
but you don't understand that not everyone does. I'm sorry I don't believe everything that you do, but I refuse to sit back and let you act like a dick and assume that everyone who drinks is such a bad person. That tone of your post is arrogant, cocky, threatening, etc. If that's what answering to a higher power has done to you, then no thanks, I'll answer to myself.
