Fox doesn't panic often and almost never where people can see it. He's about to lose this battle in the face of Michael Flint. He was expecting the man to be in his face and aggressive but somehow he seems...indifferent? Is that better or worse. Oh shit, he lost the thread of the conversation. Was someone talking to him? "I'm sorry, I missed that," Fox said.

Chris saw that Fox was watching her dad and she knew what was bothering the kid. She wanted to tell him that this was better than the possible alternative, but she didn't want to scare him. Gently, she said, " we were talking about next year. You're interested in the Department of Mysteries?"

"Yes mam," he says. "I've already applied. I think I have a good shot. I did an internship there with Arthur Lestrange-Potter".

Michael smiles, allowing himself to look Fox because he's smiling and not staring, "Arthur, he's a good kid." He laughs, "well, not a kid. But his mother is one of my best friends. His father is a dick but I don't hold it against him. Arthur is brilliant."
