Because I was having such a good week already.

Today I tripped on something and fell into some rocks (large gravel, ~baseball sized), knee first. It hurt a lot. More than it should to just skin your knee. Lucky for me atomic_umber was there to strongly suggest going to the doctor. After the drive up to Los Alamos (she drove, I clutched some ice to my knee in pain), I believed her ( Read more... )

Good luck with healing.

I also would like to vote that while you're on narcotics you not play with malware on the clan machine.

Hope you get better soon. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you.

On a more practical note, don't try to tough out the pain and not use your meds. That can lead to slower recovery and chronic pain. Also, be sure to go through all our your physical therapy and whatever exercises they recommend. Finally, you'll be surprised how much the temporary disability will affect you mentally. Be prepared for some pretty rough mood swings.

That's a good point. I tend to try to stay away from painkillers, but sometimes you just need them. At the same time, I need to stay away from the prescription ones to go to work... I'll make sure to stick with the Advil (which they suggested) as I can.

Physical therapy isn't going to be fun, but I want my full mobility back, so I'll stick with it when it happens. That'll be in September.

I've been pretty down about it, though getting off the crutches today (more about that in a post) helped a lot. Having atomic_umber here helps even more :)

Thanks.

So I hear you've got issues with the crutches and having to keep the bum-leg straight?

Since crutches are much easier when you can bend the bum-leg so it doesn't hit the ground when you swing through, having it straight can be an immense problem. The easy fix: high heeled shoe on the good foot (lifts and the dreaded cowboy-boot work too)

now that obnoxiousness aside, I'm glad you got ye old medical attention because leg issues suck flying goat-monkeys. I'm thinking happy thoughts for a speedy recovery!

*hugs*
