Fire and Pancakes

Aziraphale was a weird one, not like the conventional stereotype of angel. He wasn't the singing the choirs type nor the brimstone & hellfire type either. To be quite honest, he was the princely equivalent of a nerd. He would go on days on end reading on every subject, partly as a duty and mostly as a beloved hobby, with only the coffee House would provide as a slightly needed fuel. But, like a nerd, Aziraphale's cooking skills were somewhat deplorable as the doctor found out one very early morning.
Normally, House would wake up on his own internal clock (ie never on time) thanks to the pain medication used to treat his severe leg but that day, he hopped awake to a fire alarm and the sprinkler system. "What the hell?!" the bookish angel heard from down the hall, where a chronically wet doctor limped to his position. "I seem to have miscalculated the proportions of oil for the recipe," Azi responded from his hiding place near the sink. An oil burn had to be extinguished by wet cloths to cut off the flames' supply of oxygen and the angel knew that the batter...
"You don't use oil for pancakes! That just makes it a flat doughnut!" House could barely comprehend how this happen. "But-" Aziraphale began when Greg cut him off with a ghost of a grin, "Did it ever occur to you, in all those books you collect and cherish, to have one on home ec.?"
