The Problem With Well-Oiled Machines...

Mar 09, 2008 01:37

... is that the price of oil is so high nowadays.

I've been fortunate enough to be extremely busy. I've been fortunate enough to be basically doing a bit o' something in every field that I enjoy-programming, teaching, music, and writing. Because I absolutely love everything about everything that I do, it's easy to do them, do them to the best of my ability, and do them in a timely manner.

And things were going well. So incredibly well. Serious. The months of November through February have been so awesomely wonderful professionally on all fronts that I wanted to shout out to my LJ friends at how wonderful everything was going. It seemed, however, that my LJ friends were having less-than-wonderful days post-Xmas. I'm not the most sensitive bloke, but I've been raised never to boast when others are having a time of it.

No worries, tho, right? Plenty of time to enjoy things.

Then shit happens.

I've been away from LJ for awhile. My grandmother is basically seeing her last days. She's sick, she lives alone, she lives far from the city, and I'm the only one without the sort of responsibility that would, in essence, make their life crumble by putting things on hold (ie. I've a lot of freelance stuff, whereas my Mom works for the State and my sister has a child, a private practice, and other responsibilities that prevent her from putting Life on Pause).

Basically, until Gram passes, I'll be in Knightstown, Indiana (Gene Hackman Hoosiers, anyone?) trying to make the remainder of Gram's life as pleasant for her as possible. I don't have reliable access to the internet so won't be to peruse the interwubs in all its glory, including LJ. (My bluetooth phone sucks for this sort of thing. Proof? I started typing this at 10:30pm... it's now almost 1:15am as I type this very sentence...)

I truly don't expect this hiatus to be that long, which is really sad when you think about it, but for now, it must be so.

When I return, I'll probably point you lot to a different LJ username. I'm not fond of this username anymore, but I don't fancy paying LJ $15 to do something that basically is automated and doesn't cost them more than $0.15 to do (seriously). But I'll let you guys know when that time comes.

Some of you have emailed me already; most of you, I've already responded to. Thanks for thinking of me.

For those who have not received an email, I'm truly sorry -- I'm not thinking entirely straight, but it's not that I was deliberately ignoring you.

, you know the deal and I'm still down to work on your story -- trust me, it'll be a wonderful distraction for me.

I do have my lappy, so I'll still be writing.

No worries.

Thanks, everyone.

I'm disabling comments because #1: I doubt I'd be able to read them for quite some time, and #2: I'm not really looking for pity or anything, but I did want to update everyone collectively on what's going on. Make sure you bookmark all your cool writings and fic updates and be prepared for the big Rec Me Of Doom come April! Or... whenever.

~hugs to everyone!~

See ya, soon!

Promise.
