"I lied," he confesses. "It wasn't the woman at the psychiatric hospital that changed me - it was the woman that was the reason I went there in the first place."
THAT IS ALL I WANTED FROM THIS EP i'm still loving all of these so much. thank you both for doing this. it makes the time between now and monday go by so much smoother.
I would also like to commend tuck on that line. When I was reading this to beta, that line was SO powerful to me. And I felt like it was really missing from the season.
that line comes from both of us; working with you on this really helped to clarify this past season and, for me at least, the moments you added and your words helped me to find my own vignettes ♥
Thank you for that!! Of all the things in s6 that just made no sense, House's "she changed me," with so little context and no follow-up have to be near the top of the list. And for it to have been brought up out of nowhere in that ep... ugh.
Your version, however, goes down much more smoothly. House sharing his real feelings only after it's too late... beautiful.
While I would agree with the writers that Lydia deserves some credit for House's road to recovery, I didn't appreciate the undue extent of her effect on him and his sudden realization of it. It just didn't ring true, even more so with House readily confessing this to a patient. (Remember how long it took him to open up to the rape victim in One Day, One Room???)
From now on, your version is what I'll always picture when this scene in Lockdown is mentioned. Owe you one for fixing this. :)
