Yikes! Sorry to hear about your pain. I haven't been able to clear poison ivy without getting the rash no matter how careful I am. M tells me that you can also inhale that virginia creeper stuff when cutting it, which would be really bad.
Of course, the only alternative is using an evil spray made by an evil petrochemical company. Sigh.
Yes, it is an EEEEVIL plant! And because it has sharp, needlelike crystals instead of the poison oil that ivy gives off, you can't really wash it away. It gets through thin clothing and sticks in your skin. Inhaling it... oy, that sounds bad. (And if you get it in your mouth, it apparently hurts like a mo-fo.) I read online that petro sprays don't really kill The Creeper, either. Gawd, it's like The Day of the Triffids or something.
Still, I count my lucky stars that I've kept it from spreading to my Region. The Julep has me started on prednisone because it just won't clear up or stop itching like a barstard. Anyway, I'll survive. There are so many worse things to happen, lawd knows. How are YOU doing? Get any gaily-colored envelopes lately?
I'm doing a little better. Things are feeling somewhat less out of control. Maybe because I've seen less of my mother in the past week. Going for massages this week and last has helped a lot, too. I carry a lot of stress in my shoulders.
I haven't checked the P.O. box lately, mainly because of the ugly credit card bill that's waiting there. I'll get there sometime in the next 24 hours. Looking forward to gaily-colored envelopes!
