So I got this ipod for my birthday. And even tho I have really wanted one, my mac needs major revamping before I can use it. I have a Mac G4 but am only working on like OS 8. something or maybe 9. I don't want to spend the cash for an upgrade right now so I'm thinking maybe I should just sell the ipod. I'm getting ready to drive out west, in ( Read more... )

you can try downloading it from limewire. but i'm not sure. i'm not sure if you're supposed to upgrade that much in one step

yeah, thats what i was afraid of. Last time i skipped an important step or version and my computer got all funky on me and I had to crash it. blah.

i stumbled across your journal...

how did your G4 not come with OSX? i have an ibook G3 and that came with both X and 9. itunes can run on 9, so so you'll be able to hook your ipod up to that if you can upgrade from 8 to 9.

is your birthday on the 17th july? its just that mine is, and a spiffy thing about OSX is that the default date on ical icon is 17th july.

I got my g4 back when they first came out. I haven't done any of the upgrades I was supposed to. Then I got a hold of 9. something and I was missing one of the upgrades in between and if fucked my entire system. So I ended up crashing it out and starting over with what I had origionally. yada yada yada.

hmmmnnn... that sucks. sorry i cant help you in where to get an upgrade for free. i reckon you should keep your ipod though... they rock and im jealous!
