drwilltx Prompt #14:
There's a prism by the window
It lets the light leak in
I wish you would let me
You feel the water but do you swim?
And it's only me empty-handed
With a childish grin and a camera
Empty Handed - Michelle Branch
Captured
She's in a playful mood, walking around the hospital, and snapping photographs as she goes. She has already captured Foreman reading a neurology book in House's recliner. And Chase chewing on a pencil as he fills out a crossword puzzle.
But House? She has yet to capture him. He has been too aware, dismissing her with a wave of his hand any time he sees her lift her camera.
Cameron isn’t one to give up.
It is late in the day. She sees him seated at his desk, staring out the windows. The orange glow from the sun casts his face in an illuminating light, softening his features and leaving the majority of his body in shadows.
She lifts her camera and adjusts the focus, trying to use as much of the natural light as possible. The shutter speed is set on a delay because she knows her subject won’t be moving.
He is too lost in thought.
Cameron smiles and depresses the shutter. She waits for the exposure to finish; it isn’t until it clicks that House becomes aware of her presence. His eyes move from the window to her.
“I hope you got what you wanted.”
“For now.”
