I saw Jens Lekman last night and I'm pretty much in love. Anyone who writes songs about his hairdresser or having to go to the ER after cutting his finger while slicing an avocado (in the context of a love song) is cool with me. Cute little Swedish accent, fun stage presence, sweet white patent leather shoes, I'm totally up for it.
Let it be known that if Alyssa ends up with Stephen, the kilted bartender at Uisge Beathe, it is all down to the Irish bagpiper Liam (who is more than old enough to be our father) hooking the two of them up. There had best be pipes at this wedding.
So I promised my friend Alyssa that I'd play her Hot Chip's "Ready for the Floor" on my ukulele. I'm not entirely certain how I'm going to manage this. However, my ukulele skills have been steadily improving ever since I went to Glasgow's first ever ukulele jam, which consisted of three girls rocking the uke in a coffee shop. Score.
I wasn't aware that basil is a flowering plant, but apparently it is - making this yet another reason why the basil is Vince and the ivy is Howard. Do you see Howard flowering? I should think not.
I remembered the other thing I was going to say about Brussels - I loved our waiter who had clearly learnt most of his English from British tourists and responded to our "merci"s with a warm, heavily-accented "cheers!"
