the end of an era....of FREE PARKING

Feb 08, 2007 23:14

So it seems the jig is up! After several months of never paying the meters outside of the West Falls Church Metro station, I got a parking ticket. However, I pay it now with the knowledge that I saved much more than the $25 ticket price over the course of these months. And even though I'll have to start toting around a roll of quarters again to pay ( Read more... )

Self-defense item! 1d6 nonlethal damage (use as sap).

$10 dildo! (You were all thinking it. I know.)

Emergency car fuse (better than a bullet, à la the Darwin awards)

Paperweight (unless your house is currently being kept by a cute Portugese woman who speaks no English, in which case ditch 'em)

Homemade iPod--just jingle them all together in rhythm!

Earlobe stretcher!

Hand squeezer for giving blood!

Cockroach squisher! (Fucking cockroaches. I hate them all.)

Chips or counters for the Game of Thrones game (power tokens!!!)

Poker chips (one...one...one...)

Kill Doctor Lucky tokens, if you turn the years face-up and have really good eyesight

Eyelid weights for the dead

Good source of minerals if used as a lozenge. Also an immune system booster (if you survive the germs, that is).

Very tiny records (for pictsies?)

Very tiny frisbees (also for pictsies)

So is it just not worth it to pay the $3.50 all-day fee? How long do you stay there, anyway?

I know I can always trust Emily to come up with many, many reasons. For anything.

For not paying: it is cheaper to pay the meters (25 cents for 45 minutes, except one meter that is 25 cents for 60 minutes) than to stay in the garage if you are going to be parked for fewer than twelve hours (the amount of time one would have to park for the two to be equal). However, after several months of paying the meters last fall, I realized that I had never, ever, not even once seen anyone get a ticket (despite many more expired meters than my own). My own meter had run out many times when I had gotten delayed at school or summach, and so eventually I just quit paying it. Alas, tis done!

Is it wrong to only think of violent uses for a roll of quarters? (i.e. close your fist around it and start punching)

a non-violent one: lots and lots of spinning.

pay for a lot of cheap hookers.

treat a lot of kids to gumballs.
