Interesting to note, isn't it also much more common for a son to be given his father's first name, than for a daughter to be given her mother's first name? My mother, my grandmother, and I all have the name Charlene, but off of the top of my head I can't think of anyone else I know who is named after their mother.

my sister and i broke a five-generation streak up my mother's side of there always being one daughter named Nancy.

In Brokeback Mountain, Ennis del Mar's daughter is named after his wife, Alma. Both parents call their daughter "Junior" instead of Alma.
