Anyone have any book recommendations for boys ages 12 and 14?  I am finishing up Christmas shopping for my cousins, and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks!

Well, my nephew likes the WImpy Kid books, and books about sharks and UFOs and such. He also likes the Guinness Book of World Records books. Also, anything Star Wars (but it's particular)...

Doctor Who related - there are great companion books, and quick reads books (like I Am a Dalek).

Oh, comic books! There are some good ones for kids like Teen Titans, Batman Adventures, and (although I don't like it) Spiderman.

I rambled. Hope it helped.

Percy Jackson and Artemis Fowl I've found appeal to that age group really well (es;pecially Artemis Fowl -- lots of toilet humour to entertain them). I also second the comic book idea, especially if they like superheroes -- they tend to like comics as well.

Ah man, if you'd only asked this morning I could have convened a focus group for you! (I tutor several boys of this age.)

Let's see: I just read The Hunger Games, a YA series, and though it has a female protagonist, the plot centers on adventure and VIOLENCE! (Violence put into emotional context, though.) I think it's about time boys started identifying with female characters, since we have to read so many books with male leads at that age...

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy could be fun--as could Good Omens.
