A quick poll:

What's the appropriate amount of time for a little-used, large-footprint appliance to sit around on the kitchen bench after use?

A) No time at all - I put kettles / sandwich toasters / blenders away immediately after use, or once they've had sufficient time to cool down if necessary.
B) A day or so 'cause y'know, I'm a busy person, the once an hour I walk through the kitchen to go outside for a smoke is vital time that can't be spent putting things away. I'll do it tomorrow.
C) A week because fuck you. I don't care if you need bench space to prepare food on. That's why my Pizza Hut meal deal box, (which takes up AN ENTIRE BENCH, or half the food prep space) is still here on Sunday morning after I had pizza on Wednesday as well, as the kettle & toaster.

If you won't listen every time I tell you to PUT THE FUCKING KITCHEN APPLIANCES AWAY, then I'm putting them away where you won't be able to use them. I really wish I hadn't opened the lid of the rice cooker you took three weeks to clean though. I'll never be able to get that stench out of my nose.
