Reason #3 Why My Brother Will NEVER Live With Me

Mar 05, 2013 20:19

So my older brother moved out last Sunday. In typical fashion (he moved out previously), he left his space in worst condition than he found it. The last time he moved, me and my younger brother spent the better part of 5 hours cleaning up the space. Since that episode resulted in both of us coming down with nasty upper respiratory infections, I ( Read more... )

What I have found is that parents often accept moronic behaviour they would not accept from anyone else out of beings they created. So don't be surprised, I'm not. :)

This is so utterly true, as I am currently going through similar issues with my step brother. Our dad doesn't want conflict, so he didn't do anything.

Mom came in and set her foot down and now step bro is throwing fits that he's being kicked out for letting a drug using abuser comes back into the house several times.
(this is after being arrested from this house for drug abuse twice now.)

Yeah, it can cause really, really nasty mold problems, especially if the environment has been humid at all in there, and in a worst-case scenario, the mold can get into the structure.

And if the OP doesn't know how long the carpet has been wet, or thinks it might have been for any length of time, someone in their family really, really, REALLY needs to get good respiratory protection (or professional help) and check if the underside of the carpet hasn't already gotten moldy.

So it's cool if I half-destroy the house before I move out, as long as I claim to have tried to fix it. Good to know, thanks Mom.

Enabling behaviour like that is exactly why your brother is the way he is. I don't know why parents do it, it just produces ruined adults.
