I have a big house, and two kiddos, so I rent out the bottom two bedrooms and the finished basement as a shared accommodation scenario to help out with cash.

I'd like to say that goes well, but if it had, I wouldn't be here. Almost every single one has been horrid in some way, but the last two..

I had a past roommate pull that whole "I only really use my room so I shouldn't pay the full amount. Excuse me? You mean you DON'T shower or use the toilet? You DON'T cook in the kitchen? You magically teleport from the foyer into the kitchen (and therefore passing the living room)? You DON'T watch TV EVER in our living room? Yeahhhh no.

I had a tenant once who tried to pull that stuff with the moving out dates. The real estate agent lady rang him and was like "You have to move out on the exact date" and his response was "But you don't have many places available to rent!". On that one street, there are 5 or 6 agents, and he was only looking at the one. She ended up getting him in touch with a friend at another agent and he got a place and moved out in time, but wtf goes through peoples heads?

I think your fiance is more worried about the guy thinking he has full reign of the house and everything in it rather than your theory of 'we had women, and you were fine'. But that's your fiance, and women are less likely to try to advance on a man without consent. Men on the other hand...
Anyway, that poor fish! And yeah, your latest tenant was a fucking asshole. Both have been. I'm sorry they've been so dickish with your rent.
