We miss you in House fandom, but I love this interview and the thought of little!Flywoman writing Smurf fic is absolutely adorable.

I didn't start anywhere near that early. Or rather, I started earlier except I never thought to write any of it down until I was well into college, at which point I discovered that this was hard and I sucked at it. I really did. I should've started writing when I was eight.

I loved your Bad Influence a lot. A LOT. And can't say how happy I am that you remember Nuthatch, out of my things. <3

This bribery of which you speak. What would be required?

Hee - I still have that first story, written in pencil, illustrated, and signed with my name and "Age 8."

I know what you mean - I had to write a lot of stuff that sucked before anything good emerged.

You were one of my biggest cheerleaders for that fic, as I recall, both before and during the writing/posting process <3. And you were one of my very favorite writers in the House fandom from the beginning, so your encouragement meant a lot!

Tell you what... I don't know that I have the inspiration/stamina to start my own piece at the moment, but if someone were to invite me to collaborate on a new chain fic... just sayin'.

Collaboration is basically my favorite thing to do, so this could happen. :-D

Somewhat to my surprise, I am still the owner of h_w_chainfic (http://h-w-chainfic.livejournal.com), and jezziejay and menolly_au are the other two mods. Want to join us? ;)

Went back and read Love Actually. Charming and funny as ever. ♥

As a latecomer to House, what first piqued your interest in the show? Is there a common denominator among the Smurfs, ST, X-Files, Buffy, and House that motivated you to write for those particular fandoms?

Thanks! <3

That's a great question that I will attempt to answer ;). If we fast forward past the Smurfs (I think I wrote Mary Sue fic for that simply because I was watching it at the time and putting myself in that world), I think that there may be some common denominator to do with excellent (at least at times) writing and complex, unconventional, talented & well-intentioned but flawed characters. Other favorite shows include The West Wing, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, and Dollhouse (I've written fic for the first two but not the latter). And as I've gotten older, reading fic from, and interacting with, other authors that inspire me have also been important factors - fandom is not a vacuum, and the exchange of ideas and constructive criticism really helps to motivate me to write more (and better).

God, this made me want to go back and read so many of your fics. Although, I still haven't made it fully through a reread of Three Months - the tears start about halfway through chapter one. It is, for me, one of the most powerful fanfics I've ever read about dying and death. I also have a massive fondness for No Sleep in a Quiet Room. And The Big Easy. Plus Five Times Greg House Finds James Wilson Irresistible. And...well, all of it. Loved watching you develop Regarding House from conception to completion. That's a really special fic.

That's funny that the first line is the hardest for you to write - just as it's often the easiest for me.

Thanks for the shout out - always enjoyed our communications, all the more when we moved into other and very different fandoms. You keep writing and I'll keep reading. <3

Oh, thanks! I keep trying to get one of my friends to read "Three Months" for, er, reasons, but so far he has resisted ;). Yes, you are one of the few to witness my longfic struggles firsthand, lol. I don't know if I ever would have finished Regarding House without your staunch encouragement, so "thank you*. The title alone seemed to take weeks...

I think that if I went back through my fics and counted, I would find that I had written the last line first far more often than the first one, and vice versa!

You keep writing and I'll keep reading. <3
Same here, hon. Same here!

Your writing has been one of the great pleasures of House fandom for me. It's interesting to be shown the process of your creating! And "unreasonably proud"--tut tut, woman! Not unreasonable at all!

If anyone is suggesting a chain-fic challenge (hint, hint)...

ETA: I read "Defensive Strategies"...DEAR GOD.

Thanks so much!

And obviously if such a challenge were to take place, I hope that you would participate!

ETA: I KNOW, RITE? *fanning self*

Great recs! I love Defensive Strategies. It took a long time and a shove from Reading Rat for me to read Princeton Odyssey but when I did I really enjoyed it. I wish I'd known how good it was years ago.

Would you ever do a House/Football crossover?

I just went and re-read Love Actually. I'm so glad you mentioned it because I'd forgotten what a wonderful story it was.

Oh, so glad you enjoyed Princeton Odyssey - that was sheer genius <3.

A House/Football crossover? Interesting idea. You know, Messi has a mysterious malady that has always been ascribed to nerves, but...

Aw, I'm happy to hear that. I hardly did anything but transcribe the movie, honestly, but it was such a pleasure.

Messi...is he the sweet guy who sent a refugee kid a uniform shirt signed by his whole team?

Quite possibly. He's a very sweet guy (when not losing a match, lol), and he loves kids!
