21 was a big age on the Outside, Melinda had heard. Not so much here. And the daily routine still had to go on as usual; even more than usual, maybe, thanks to the heavy snow that was still ever present. That being said, the day hadn't been bad - in fact, far from it. Working for the Suit was an honor that she enjoyed on all days ( Read more... )

It was a big age in America, at least. Her dad told her eighteen was the important one in Australia, and it'd been fifteen for her, here. When she'd decided to become a Diamond, Avery thinks as she steps into the cold, crisp winter air.

"Catching a cold is probably not the best birthday present to yourself," she says with a grin.

He'd been to Diamond Castle on Ace-business. And now he was heading out again when he sees Melinda cavorting around in the snow, without any sort of suitable winter wear on. You know, unlike the Ace except with less beard.

So he'll pause to raise an eyebrow sardonically. "Is this really how Diamonds choose to comport themselves these days?"

"I- Oh-- your Highness, I-" She stands straight at attention, then gives him a long, low bow. "It is not. I was just... I apologize for giving you an incorrect impression of our Suit."

Highness? That's not something he typically hears.

But the bow is appreciated, anyway. "Do you? And what sort of impression do you think I ought to have?"

She's carefully making her way back from Town when she sees the butler and pauses, a part of her amused at the sight and another part of her fretting that the cold will have its effects.

"Surely a jacket will help you enjoy things a little longer?"
