My list of favourite fics has become too large to be accepted as one post by LJ (uh-oh...) so I've had to split it into two parts. Let's hope this works...

So many great fics, so little time!

Too little to go dredging through my LJ Memories each time I want to re-read something, anyway, so I'm making a list. It's not a list of recommendations, as such - it's just a list of the ones I've particularly enjoyed. Maybe others will find it helpful, though, when looking for something to read :)

There's all sorts of stuff here, from long, sophisticated stories to shorter and sometimes, perhaps, less sophisticated ones, but each one of them touched me at the moment at which I read it. Some span more than one category, but I've put them in what seems to me to be to be some sort of order. They've all brightened my day at least once: some of them on multiple occasions - *much love* to all the writers :)

Spoilers: I've not marked any for spoilers, as I've not had a chance to re-read all of them before making this list. So, any currently unspoiled browsers must read at their peril.

Warnings: I've generally not included warnings about character death, because where character death is meant to be a surprise it rather defeats the object to know in advance, and is a bit of a bummer both for the reader and the writer. If there's some BDSM or other interesting sexual activity I've generally mentioned it, but only so that those of us who consider that to be an enticement can know where to look :) So, for warnings just look to see what the writer has chosen to include.

I'll keep updating this as I come across new stories. So many more great stories still to read!

Damn it's hot! - genagirl: I'm not sure whether that's the title, or simply the journal entry! House ODs - Wilson finds him.
Denial Isn't a River in Egypt - geekygecko: wonderful sick!Wilson WIP. Currently up to Ch.10, but more on the way.
Dissociation - pretty_blue_gun: short but poignant, original and beautifully written. House switching between time-zones.
The Drop of Water - deelaundry: very powerful Wilson angst. Amazing writing. Read deelaundry's warning before reading, though.
Escape Velocity - nightdog_writes: 3 times that Wilson flew. I love this! I've just re-read it and my heart is pounding! Quite wonderful :)

Fighter - tasha_elizabeth: phenomenal! Apocalypse comes. How Wilson and House cope.
Fits & Starts - almost_julie: 3 short but lovely post-infarction scenes between Wilson and House.
Four Floors Down - Alipeeps: excellent short story describing the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
Friday Night & Saturday Morning - Housepiglet: well I wrote this one, so I like it :) Hurt!Wilson - House is afraid to show Wilson he cares.

Home - Tidwell: House is determined to diagnose his father's illness. Now up to chapter 22 - not yet finished, but updated regularly.
Horsefeathers - nightdog_writes: Wilson hurts himself falling off a horse.
***House of Cards - elicia8: Wilson stays with House after suffering his first heart attack. Fantastic stuff.
House your Motorcycle is Deafening - alanwolfmoon: 5 times Wilson got migraine. Really nice stuff.
Ides of March - finding_jay: classic and painful angst. 3 chapters.
Illusions - isaytoodlepip: House, morphine, Wilson, Cuddy, mega-angst.
Inertia - elicia8: quite stunning! One of Wilson's patients snaps, and produces a gun. House and Wilson have to deal with the aftermath.
In Self Defence - Alipeeps: House is attacked in the clinic. 11 chapters, but sadly abandoned. Still a great read, though :)
Intervention - Sydedalus: classic, *long* (45 chaps), post-Detox sick!House, angst and hurt/comfort. One of the first fics I ever read - over at The Pit :)
***Into the Fire - mer_duff: Wilson saves a small boy from a fire but is badly burned. House has difficulty coping. Wonderful stuff.
I Shall Believe - Tubesox: Vicodin begins to take its toll.
It's Not Easy - willywonka3435: Cuddy yells, Wilson collapses at her feet! Uh-oh... 13 chapters at The Pit.
Kiss of Judas - jaryn: House bandages Wilson's hand. Could have put it in the Pre-Slash section. Beautifully done.
The Last Mile - extrabitter: 3 chapters. Starts with a row and develops from there. Painful and touching.
Let Go - Cloak of Nettles: tragically, this is unfinished, and I don't think it will be now. It's just great, though! Read anyway :) 4 chapters.
Limericks - alex51324: Wilson has cancer. House plays with Wilson's stuffed toys. Wonderful.
Little Boy Blue - Topaz Eyes: House's mother dies. Hurt/comfort. Wonderful.
Locked up and Set Free - deelaundry: post MLC, Wilson goes to prison instead of House. Powerful and heart-rending. Made me cry!
***The Longest Weekend - perspi: Wilson takes an OD: House finds him. Powerful stuff.
Lost Sleep - mer-duff: Wilson is exhausted: House takes care of him.
Love & Hapiness - t_eyla: With Wilson critically injured and fighting for his life, House finds himself battling some very personal demons.
Lunch with Wilson - alex51324: House has lunch with Wilson every day.
Measure of a Tie - Topaz Eyes: House's mother dies. Hurt/comfort. A part of Little Boy Blue (above)
Memo to Death's Mighty Advocate - shadowstar: House gives Wilson amphetamines - poisoning results...
Messengers - Telegramsam: Wilson's distressed at the death of a patient. I found this very touching.
Mother's Intuition - Topaz Eyes: Wilson worries about House's pain post-Stacy, and tells House's mother.
No Backing Out - miss_slothy: "Wilson blinked & winced against the sudden bright light." Cuty fluffy stuff :)
No Exit - Barbara Barnett: House and rehab'. 13 chapters over at The Pit.
No Little Charity - perspicacious: another amazing AU. 8 chapters. A little slice of hurt/comfort heaven :)
Not With a Bang But With a Whimper - DIY Sheep: 16 glorious chapters of House in despair & destitution because he couldn't produce the tick... Great Rat Love in this story too.
Nothing Left to Lose - daasgrrl: House takes Wilson to ID his brother in the morgue. Beautiful writing.
November - awwsugah: Wilson finds House dead in his apartment, following an accident.
One Blind House - DIY Sheep: House is blind! 5 chapters. Complete.
The Pain Chronicles (3 programmes that didn't work - Diproxafon; Overdose; Morphine) - 2ndary-author: great writing again.
Paladin of Empathy - perspi: post shooting. Much Cameron, but the Wilson scene went straight to my heart.
Passage on the River Styx - earlwyn: beautifully stylish story that gives a different perspective on Wilson.
Patches - outright_thief: House ODs - Merry Little Christmas.
Patterns - nightdog_writes: House is troubled by strange dreams of Wilson's death.

You Already Know How This Will End - fourteencandles: quite fantastic exploration of House/Wilson post Tritter. 5 chapters. Perhaps the best extended House fic I've ever read.

Brainwaves - Peak in Darien: Hilarious House/Chase fic where House and Chase can suddenly read each other's thoughts!
The Care & Feeding of Wilsons - Ceaena: fluffy and lovely :)

A Dark & Stormy Night - Housepiglet: I wrote, so I laughed :) Crack-fic about the cliched nature of House/Wilson fics :)
