Neighborhood B-B-Q

Sep 23, 2006 08:59

Bryan and I are hosting our first neighborhood B-B-Q this afternoon. We hope the rain holds off! It looks a little questionable out there right now. We have new neighbors on each side of us so we thought this would be a good way to help them connect with everyone. Of course, we, and our other Christian neighbors, want to shower Christ's love on ( Read more... )

It was a success! We got off to a slow start with everyone running late but the weather was beautiful though a little hot. We did get some rain though so we just moved the part into the garage and watched it. We have 4 families in attendance and I think a good time was had by all. The kids and one of the moms decorated our driveway will all sorts of chald pictures. They loved it!

Hey,
This looks great!!!! It's like "Moms My Space". Very cool.
Please teach Bryan how to put his pic on his myspace. That little gray & white man in his box is starting to be my mental image of him. Yikes!

The bar-b-que sounds like a great idea to get to know everyone. I love when the whole neighborhood kinda gets to know everyone!
I just found out a few weeks ago our neighbor 2 doors down is our mechanic at the auto place we go to and he is helping in the youth dept. at his church. Cool huh.

Have you checked out JoJo's myspace lately? Her "friend" Jordan from Oregan that she meet at IHOP 2 summers ago posted her picture on his myspace and put the caption "incandesently happy" under her photo. Last nite we were watching "Pride & Prejudice" and that line is in the movie....at the end. So she texted him and asked where he got that phrase and he told her "Pride & Prejudice"
Well you should have seen her smile.

Beth,

So good to hear that you guys are staying connected with your neighbors, especially the new ones moving in. I can totally relate to the new kid on the block. lol

Glad God kept the weather under control so you could continue to fellowship. God is good.

We are trying to connect with some people from our church. They are good hearted people. It just seems a bit strange now that Gerald & I are older, we are looking at things differently. It's like we want to help, but let the young ones with the ideas and energy just go for it. We're here to cheer them on and offer guidance and direction. Kinda of strange to be on this side of things.

Wait a minute! Who says you are older?!?!? I don't think you can put yourself in that category yet. Bryan would definitely agree with me. :-)

I do think it is great that you and Gerald can be in a place of mentoring now. There are some very priveledged people there who will reap the benefits of all you have to offer them. We will pray that God blesses you with many friendships, both those you can mentor and those who will mentor you. Every time we move I pray that God will give me Titus 2 women - those I can teach and those I can learn from. You were one I learned from here and I am so grateful for all you gave, and continue to give. I know God took you to NC because there are relationships there He wants to build and I am excited to hear about it as it develops.

Have a blessed day!

Oops! I forgot to sign in so it popped up with Bryan's LJ profile, not mine. Oh well, I am still getting the hang of this.

We're amazed! anonymous September 25 2006, 23:58:20 UTC
Hi, Beth--
You continue to amaze us, as you always have. You have a way of putting your energy to good use in creative ways. What a neat way to share your life and values with others. We can see it takes time to keep up the site, but this is so very like you.

Your focus on homemaking makes us glad I was home for you when you were growing up. Three times the Lord told me not to go back to work (I kept foolishly asking)and you were obviously part of the reason. When I did go back to work it was in His timing and purposes.

You are a constant blessing and Mom and Dad love you more than you know.
