A Call To Community Members/Watchers

The purpose of this post is to have an open dialogue with community members/watchers for what tutorials etc. you'd like me to research and/or write for you. Also, if you'd like to leave a comment or question about anything but didn't feel you had the proper place to do so, now is your chance. I know that I have neglected this community ( Read more... )

random (possibly stupid) question ninalyn May 18 2004, 20:52:33 UTC
Is there a way to "merge" two separate photographs (say, one of a patio and a picture of person sitting) into one? I've seen this done before, where one of the images is a little bit transparent while the other one is entirely solid. Is this a feature of layers or something else?

Sorry if this is a randomly stupid question; I've just never understood how to do it. Perhaps it's a mask?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I think I know what you mean, but can you show me an example first? That would be most helpful.

J,

Please go to the following lj community for an example: http://www.livejournal.com/community/burning_in/ (there is a post at the top of the page with a picture of two girls superimposed on top of one another. . .is that easy to do?)

Hopefully that's a decent example (and thank you in advance).

Put simply, this image looks like they selected parts of an image (namely the face) and put it on the top of the layer stack. It appears as though the opacity of that layer was lowered, and possibly set to a different blend mode from the layer styles command in the bottom of the layers palette.

Hope this helps, let me know - and I'm terribly sorry for taking so long to answer you, been very busy!

Hi, I just joined the community. I've had a look in the memories section and while there are some tutorials I'll definately be using, I haven't found what I need right now.

I've been using PS 6 for a few years and now I've got PS CS I'm getting stumped on the brushes. I can't work out why I can't use them. I select a brush but I can't use it. I'm pretty sure it's got something to do with the new features/set up of the latest version but I can't see what I'm doing wrong. Any help with that would be fabulous. Thanks. :)

Hello, and welcome!

First things first. Where did you come by the copy of 6.0? I've heard of lots of people that have downloaded copies of PS that are completely screwed up, and nothing is going to fix that. Is it a legitimate copy you have?

If the software is corrupt, again - nothing you can do about that. Perhaps it is something that happened during the install, I've heard of that before. I would save all brushes, plug ins, etc - to a disc, then uninstall and reinstall the program. See if that does the trick.

Best of luck!
