help needed

Okay people, I really need help/advice/ideas. It's got to the point where I just can't cope with my course any more - I know it's not meant to be easy, but I don't understand *anything* and the thought of going to lectures makes me cry every morning. It's been like this since the start of term but i thought things might improve over xmas, and they ( Read more... )

*hugs* thank you :) I've just been for coffee with a friend who said almost exactly the same as you. I'm going to call my parents tonight and tell them how unhappy I am here, then go and see someone tomorrow about dropping out. Then get on the phone to Bristol and see what the deal is there - hopefully I'll get to talk to someone face to face as the admissions staff should have had the worst of the applications rush.
Will let you know how it all goes :)

*massive amounts of hugs* I'm afraid that I can't really think of any useful advice apart from agreeing that if you're that unhappy you shouldn't keep going at it.

:S It's difficult to say... D: I mean you can't help it if you don't like the course half way through... is it something you really can't catch up with? And if you've lost interest that's also hard.. I don't know what you can do D: Did you talk with your parents about it?

blah your dad's always been like that :/ Hopefully you will be able to understand. It's not something you can really help though if you don't like it :s It's a 3 year course right? Maybe he's like wanting you to finish but... how can you finish it if you're not interested =_=;;

Hope it goes well and that you get some things sorted out about what you want to do (and not fall out too badly with your dad (;^_^A)

Can't get a good job without a degree? Tell that to a mate of mine who barely scraped a couple of A-Levels and is now high level management at Harrods on very nearly as many £k per year as he is years old. Or the one who's just been promoted again to senior management in an animal sanctuary - so the pays not much but she's happy in a job she loves - that she started in at the lowest level after dumping an accountancy degree midway through cos she hated it. It can be done, if you're prepared to go in at the bottom somewhere and bust your bum for several years earning stuff the 'hard way'. In this day and age, when every other goit's got a degree in something-or-other, they really aren't worth anything like what they used to be so if you're not happy it's not worth beating yourself up to continue. Especially when science degrees are usually only any good for getting science jobs, and a huge amount of those are full of snotty academics who think you're lower than floor sweepings if you don't have at least a PhD. And if you hate the ( ... )
