Just a small blerb between my catfolk Beguiler, Nila Batba'llhar Sendoa, and her raven familiar Liles.  This is set during the first session of our gaming, and really just serves as an example for the other people playing to see Nila and Liles interact at their best.  It's hard to LARP two characters at once.  XD

“You shouldn’t trust him,” Liles spat from his perch on the bedpost, having lifted his head from preening under his wing to look at Nila as he spoke. She was seated on the floor, as cross-legged as a Catfolk could get, absently playing a few notes on her ocarina. She had incense burning off to the side, likely skirting her morning prayers.

“Gilbrazen? He’s a nice guy, Liles, and we need him,” she lifted a chastising brow towards the raven, who wasn’t paying attention again.

He plucked loose a feather, dropping it before replying, “So use him, not the other way around. We’ve been through this - he’s dangerous. You shouldn’t have taken-”

“Oh, you’re such a worrying stone sometimes.” She played a rising crescendo on the ocarina, and then lilted into a few seconds from one of the newest ballads she’d picked up. Liles ignored the comment comparing him to one of the flat stones you’d rub in your palm as you turned the same idea over and over in your head. The stones never yielded a different answer to the problem, and Liles knew full well she was implying he didn’t, either.

“He’s immune to most of what we can do, Nila. He’s not-“

“He’s not immune to most, just some. He’s the least of my concerns in my co-hunters right now, and the most sane.”

“And you’re too trusting of him. He is a criminal by this country’s standards.”

Nila shrugged, setting the ocarina aside finally. “He’s one by our country’s standards, too, just by being what he is.”

“Oh don’t tell me!” he squawked, feathers puffing up, “You’re not pulling camaraderie over differences, are you?”

She smiled at him in response, folding her hands and turning towards the incense to begin her prayers. Liles muttered a few choice curses in his array of languages, flapping over to the windowsill to watch the streets slowly fill with people that morning.
