HEY. Fucking read this.

So I realized most of the people I consider my TDF peers are now more or less gone from TDF. Can you give me a few sentences as to "what happened" or what, if anything would bring you back? Did you outgrow it? Did you get a life? Get into a fight?

Basically: What would make TDF "better"? New rules, less rules, new mods, more mods, new look? Should ( Read more... )

There were a whole lot of things that made me leave TDF like the first rat off a sinking ship, and a lot of them had to do with my own mental state, but. Here are my two cents ( ... )

I think the whole "uniqueness" comes from having different forms for daemons. We need to encourage people to talk to others who have similar forms, but not so much that it creates cliques. :/

I stopped posting because I stopped having things to say. I feel like in a community there should be a ratio of "posts about me" to "posts that engage with other people", and I simply couldn't pull it off anymore X3 Weren't a lot of daemon-related discussions to join in, weren't a lot of debates to participate in, and TS/Shout...oi. Too much. Too many. Can't respond to one without feeling guilty about ignoring the others, and short of copy-pasting, "That sucks, and I wish it wasn't happening to you" over and over there is no way to respond to everyone. And then there's the cringe-factor of seeing young folk shift from happy newbies to frequenting those threads! I don't think it's so easy as saying oh my, look at the little children wanting to be join in; there's something about seeing thousands of pages filled with sad thoughts that starts to breed sad thoughts in your own head and yeah, that worries me ( ... )

As someone who has hardly read any post on TDF since October last year, I don't know how much use my opinion is. But since TDF holds a very dear place in my heart, I do like to participate in these kinds of discussion ( ... )

"And frankly, TDF isn't built to entertain the blatantly unsettled."

Why not? TDF is built to entertain people with daemons, not settled people only. Maybe we need to be more open and welcome to unsettled/young people.

I believe that TDF isn't built to entertain anyone. It's built as a platform for people to entertain themselves. Most members manage to do that just fine, or drift away, but a few (mostly unsettled youngsters) don't. They come to TDF to ask its members to entertain them. They post asking the members to come up with Daemon related things to do, as they are too young/impatient/etc. to formfind or write RA's or take part in intelligent discussion. There are plenty of threads on TDF tailored towards them, such as "things to do with your Daemon", "My Daemon says/does the darnest things", the Daemon chat topic in Games, etc., but still they ask around what else they can do. And since I believe that TDF's main purpose should be facilitating intelligent discussion about Daemonism, finding your settled form and other kinds of personality typing, I don't think TDF should provide more kinds of entertainment for these kinds of members. Or better yet: discourage these kinds of members to seek this kind of entertainment on TDF. And since I've ( ... )

" If you don't share my view of a perfect TDF, that's of course perfectly fine. ^^ "

What? I think TDF can be perfect WITH young people. XD

I do think we should start coming down a little harder on the more childish members/threads/posts and bring the general "vibe" of the forum back to intelligent discussion, but I think we can do that without an age limit if we try hard enough.

Like I said, imposing an age limit isn't what I'm trying to do right now, and might hurt the "Let's take away TS/Shout" cause. In a month or two we can come back and re-explore it, but I really want to find other solutions.

I just don't like the cliques there. I miss the old TDF. ;~;

I miss the days of "Non serious letters" to be honest. Days when people spoke to each other about their days, about their thoughts, about their feelings. TDF is just a twitter these days and even I am tired of TS and Shout.
People have stopped communicating with each other and that is a very bad thing for a forum. There is a PM exchange, this is true, but I think if you get rid of TS/Shout and make a "talk about your day" thread in spam or GD, and keep a very close eye on it, things might improve slightly.

I think in some ways we have become too close. And while that is good for groups of friends, it is not so good for a forum.

I also agree with everything Mill said.
